Chapter 9

LAURICE

"Gusto n'yo ba tumakas?" Neil asked.

"Mauna ka," Tara said.

"Si Lauren talaga dapat mauna kasi kung s'ya pasimuno, safe tayo," Keane commented.

"No," I said as I continued highlighting the book in my hand.

"Luh, parang 'di kaibigan," Candice whined, "dali na i-cancel mo na."

"It's a Council Meeting and my parents are here. Official part na kayo ng council since you guys are adults na. I don't even know if required ako um-attend ng council meeting today, Kate hasn't received a reply about it from my parents."

Tumingin naman ako kay Kate who's seated at the accent chair and she nodded. So I looked at them and shrugged my shoulders.

There's a council meeting later and before, they used to come along with their parents so we could hang out in my room and watch a movie or we'll go to the game or entertainment room to pass time. But now, they're in my room with Candice who's using the bedroom bench as a table while reviewing, Neil is seated beside her while playing a mobile game with Keane, who's laying on my bed beside Tara who's lying on her stomach beside me while watching a show on her phone.

Nagre-review lang din ako but with the way things are going, Candice and I abandoned our reviewers to just chat with the other three. And I ended up downloading the game that Keane and Neil were playing because apparently, Tara and Candice played it too. We probably spent a good hour or two playing before I heard my door open.

Tama naman ako na si Kyle 'yon kasi he's literally the only one who doesn't knock on my door before entering, but he's slowly learning since ilang beses na s'yang pinagsabihan ni Ate Ellis about knocking on my door.

"Kyle!" Someone called from outside and it sounded like...

"Christopher?" I blurted out and it really was him and all I could say was, "oh my God."

But my friends' attention was on Kyle so they didn't notice him. I was laying on my side so I stood up but almost fell off the bed.

"Oh, tanga," Neil laughed as he caught my arm.

I glared at him and stood up but he just laughed, kaya naman I pushed him playfully pero muntik na s'ya malaglag. The others just laughed at him though so I slipped away and walked towards Christopher who was still outside my room.

"Come in," I said.

"Sure ka?"

"Why not?" I asked. "Did Kuya call you to look after Kyle?" I asked.

"No, we planned to hang out but your parents called him in, eh wala si Ellis."

"Oh, then join us. Mamaya pa yung council meeting and it takes them hours to go over the things they have to go over."

"Uncle Christopher!"

We both looked back inside my room when we heard Kyle's voice. I walked back in while my nephew jumped off my bed and ran towards Christopher to tug him in. I smiled and nodded as he seemed skeptical about entering my room since he's literally being pulled inside by my 4-year-old nephew. Tumalikod naman ako at nilapitan si Kate to ask her to bring Kyle's favorite toys in my room.

It was almost time for afternoon snack na rin kaya I called one of my bodyguards to order takeout. Kyle was a little undecided about what to eat kaya medyo natagalan before nakaalis yung bodyguard ko. Kate also got a reply na I don't have to be in the meeting.

Lumipat naman kami sa lounge area ng bedroom ko and I ended up opening the playstation in my room. We took turns in playing with and against Kyle in racing games, but when Kyle decided to eat some snack, Christopher and Keane played together.
