The Royal Wooing

"A cup of cappuccino, Your Highness."

"Thank you," I told my Lady Maid, Kate, as she set down the cup.

I continued on reading the files that are due for signing and approval for today. And luckily, I was done before Kate told me that it was time to prepare for an event I was invited to.

Preparing was quicker than usual as all I had to do was wear the clothes that Kate and the other Lady Maids chose and get my makeup retouched. It also did not take me a lot of time to choose what purse or handbag to bring.

As I was heading out, I heard a jolly voice calling for me and saw that it was Kyle, my older brother's son, my nephew na tumatakbo papunta sa akin. This kid really, no matter how much we tell him not to run around the halls, he still does. Kailangan pa ata madapa before he learns.

"Aunt Lauren saan ka po pupunta?"

"I'm going to an event," sagot ko at pinahawak muna kay Mave yung purse para mabuhat ko si Kyle.

"Can I go?"

"Nice try with the puppy eyes but, no," I chuckled and hugged him tighter when he puffed his chubby cheeks.

"Next time when your Mom or Dad is invited too or if nakapagpaalam tayo. And it's time for your snacks, right?" Tanong ko at tumango s'ya. "Go eat your snack na. I'll play with you when I get back early, okay?"

"Opo." Sagot n'ya kaya napangiti ako nang tumakbo s'ya paalis. "Ah! Aunt Lauren!" Parang nagulat pa na tawag n'ya at humarap s'ya at tumakbo pabalik sa akin.

"Yes?"

"I forgot to give you a good luck kiss!"

Natawa na lang ako dahil ngumuso pa si Kyle pero I still lowered myself. And my nephew even made an exaggerated smooch sound and hugged me by my neck before saying bye.

Watching him run the halls was a little worrying but I also didn't want to make him feel so restricted with his actions as a kid so I just told one of the Lady Maids to follow him and make sure he doesn't trip. And once Kyle turned to another hall, I went out and rode the limousine to the venue.

The vehicle came to a stop and bodyguards from the car before and after mine came tostand around where I am and one of them opened the door to my side. Flashes of camera greeted my eyes as field reporters tried to ask me questions from behind the fence with bodyguards lining up along.

As soon as I got inside, I saw people looking my way and I flashed them a smile as I scanned the hall for my friends. It was quite easy because I saw Vannie with Tori and my college friends waving. Which is why I immediately strided towards there to avoid talking to someone I know I wouldn't enjoy talking to.

"I still don't get why you two chose to fly out of your countries. Finals n'yo diba?" Keane pointed out to the two who were busy picking at the appetizers set on our table.

"Finals n'yo rin ah? Bakit puma-party kayo?" Tori said.

"Ito si Tori, LQ sila ng asawa n'ya. This party, ended up with me kasi hindi mapasa ni Mama at Papa kay Kuya at Ate," Vannie explained which resulted in her being elbowed by Tori for exposing her.

"Ano, nagsisisi ka na ba?" Neil asked, which made me gasp with wide eyes as I looked at him while Tori choked on her champagne that had us laughing.

"Seriously, Neil? Past is past, pa-graduate na tayong lahat ng college 'di ka pa rin maka-move on sa akin? I'm a married woman 'no." Tori retorted while holding up her left hand to which Neil grimaced at.

All I could do was shake my head as this joke goes on. We might only let go of the fact that these two dated once Neil gets a girlfriend or Tori gives birth to their first child, whichever comes first. And as much as we wanted to enjoy ourselves here, we're all here for business purposes. Which is why we soon left our table to talk to the people we had to converse with.

In my case, it's one of the investors of the main branch of Royal Hands in Great Crystal as well as one of the members of the Parliament of the kingdom. The concern that I spoke with the member of the parliament couldn't really be discussed in the open so I just said that Kate, my Lady Maid, will just notify them.

After that, I went around talking to whoever caught me in the middle of trying to find my friends. I made acquaintances and took note of the names of those who I can possibly do good business with until I could freely hang out with the my friends for the rest of the event's duration.

When the party ended, we all went to a membership club where we spent the night like we didn't have our final exams for our last semester in college. Well, except Vannie since she's a year younger than we are.

All we did was snack on junk food, sing, and drink champagne and wine in moderation.

"Your Highness, you have—"

"What is it?" I asked and took my eyes off my reviewer. "It's urgent," I guessed and Kate nodded with an awkward smile.

I reached my hand out and she handed the folder to me with hesitation and when I began reading it, I couldn't help but sigh as I opened the file in my laptop related to the document. I spent more or less half an hour there, calculating and reviewing the document until Kate told me that it was time for me to go to the university. It was only then did I remember that I have my finals and I'm not exactly very confident but not that worried.

I still reviewed for my finals on the way after I told her to review the file I sent to her email in relation to what she handed me.

Nang makarating ako sa university, I ordered coffee because I'm still a little sleepy kahit na I had coffee earlier.

Once again, I reminded myself that this is the last week that I'd have to worry about failing a subject. But then again, what I'd be worrying about after is putting the kingdom at risk with one wrong move.

Hi! This is The Royal Series' second installment focusing on Lauren. Sirain ko na yung gawain kong magpapublish lang kapag kalahati na sa drafts HAHAHA. Na-unpublish ko pala 'to nung pinalitan ko yung cover hehehe.

Anyways, I'll start publishing chapters pero every now and then lang since busy hehehe.
