{Chapter 56}
Melinda laid on the couch waiting for Jack to get home as the bus company called her, telling her that he will come home on a bus, so she didn't have to pick him up. Jack opened the door and ran over to Melinda who picked him up and laid him next to her.
"Hey, how was school?" Melinda asked
"Good." Jack replied
She smiled and ran her hands through his hair before he ran off to go play. She looked at her phone to see the time only to see it was 3 o' clock. She got up and began to make something for Jack to snack on until she makes dinner. She grabbed some apples and peanut butter before beginning to cut the apples up. Jack ran down to her and she smiled when she felt his little arms wrap around her waist.
"When is daddy coming home?" Jack asked
Melinda shook her head, "I don't know but how about we order something out to eat then watch some movies, like we did when your daddy went away before?"
"Yeah! I'll grab some blankets!" Jack tells her
She giggled as he ran over to the closet where there was blankets and grabbed the biggest one that can fit both of them. She finished his snack and began to order the food, after asking what he wanted, before they began to watch movies while waiting for the food to arrive. Jack was sat next to her, cuddled up into her side, as Melinda had an arm around him as a protective way. Jack looked up at Melinda in a curious way as she watched the tv.
"Are you and daddy going to get married?" Jack asked
Melinda's eyes widened at his question as she looked down at him. He looked up at her with a curious expression that looks similar to his father's. She swallowed a bite of her food before answering.
"Would you want us to get married? That would mean I would be your step mom." Melinda asked
Jack smiled, "Yes! You make my daddy happy and I already call you mom!"
Melinda smiled and ruffled his hair, making him giggle. He looked at her, waiting for an answer, before she did.
"I do think about us getting married, yes, but it's up to your father if he wants to marry me. He has to propose for it to be official that we are getting married." Melinda explained to him
Jack nodded at her, accepting her answer, before continuing to eat and watch the tv. They were soon interrupted by the door opening to Aaron walking in, with the whole team. Jack gasped and placed his empty plate on the coffee table before running over to his dad. Daisy walked over to her mom and placed a hand on her forehead.
