{Chapter 41}
It was the next day from the party and everyone was at their desks doing paperwork. Emily walked in with cups of coffee for everyone, except Melinda. She gave them each their coffees and handed Melinda a water bottle.
"Thanks." Melinda tells her not looking up from her file
Derek looked at the woman with curiosity at how she is so focused on getting her files done. Daisy walked in and kissed her mom's head then kissed her fiance before going to her own desk to work on her files.
"How is everyone today?" Daisy asked
"Tired, other than that, good." Emily answered
"Same." Derek replied
Strauss walked out of her office and towards the two SHIELD agents on her team. She had two files in her hands and the team was scared. Daisy and Melinda stood up with curiosity as to why they were being called in. Aaron, David, and JJ came out of their offices when they heard the Section Chief leave her office.
"These were delivered from Agent Coulson. Said you both would be excited to read those." Erin tells them
The mother-daughter duo looked at one another with curiosity before opening the files. Daisy gasped with excitement when she read what was sent to them.
"There's going to be a SHIELD party next weekend!" Daisy announced
Melinda looked at her, "This means I have to wear a dress again?"
Daisy nodded with a hum then she giggled at her mother's disgusted face. Strauss looked to Daisy and noticed the ring on her finger then smiled.
"Congratulations!" Erin tells her
Daisy smiled, "Thanks."
Erin then looked at the other couple in the room and pointed at them to follow her. Aaron rolled his eyes at her dramatics as David pat his back in comfort. Melinda and Aaron made their way to Strauss' office waiting for them to hear a mouthful. Strauss closed her office door once the couple was in her office before turning to them.
"How long has this relationship going on?" Erin asked
"I want to say 6 months maybe more." Aaron tells her
Melinda kept a stoic glance at Strauss while thinking in her head what could happen next for them. She was willing to leave just so Aaron could keep his job.
