Chapter 41- On the Way to Hogwarts

Hermione went to her friends' compartment after walking out on Draco. She saw Luna reading The Quibbler (upside down as usual), while Neville was reading a Herbology book. Ginny was still in the Prefects' compartment, probably getting to know the other prefects.

"Hi guys!" She greeted.

Neville just smiled and nodded his head, too caught up in his book.

"Hello again, Hermione," Luna replied, smiling at her friend. "Where's your robes?" She asked, noticing that her friend haven't changed yet. They were only a few minutes before arriving to Hogsmead Station.

"Oh! I forgot it on the Head's compartment," she replied, smacking her forehead with her palm. "Could you fetch it for me? Please, Luna? I left it on my side of the couch," she begged her friend. She was still too mad at Draco, and doesn't want to face him yet.

"Alright, is Draco there?" Luna asked offhandedly.

"Yes, I think. He was there when I left, or maybe he could have went to his friends too," she replied. "Thanks Luna," she added, grateful that she agreed easily.

Luna immediately went out of the compartment to fetch Hermione's robes. She was humming quietly while she skipped to the first compartment. She have not asked about Hermione's relationship with Draco yet, but she sensed that there was something going on between her friend and the Slytherin Prince. She is just waiting for her friend to tell her about it whenever she is ready.

Draco was frustrated that his only friend walked away from him. Girls are just so sensitive, he thought irritably. He just wanted to lighten the situation- his situation that is, that was why he tried to tease Hermione. He just couldn't understand what's the big deal on joking about her gender. Of course, Draco didn't know that it was actually Ron's fault that the gender issue irked Hermione so much.

He was willing to apologize to her again, he misses her already for the few minutes she was not with him. He was hoping that she'll return before they reach the station, he doesn't want to be alone, or worse, be with their sneering schoolmates when they transfer to the horseless carriages.

The door of the compartment opened, he felt relieved that Hermione was back. "I'm so sorry, Hermione-," he started to say, but saw that it was not her friend, instead it was the loony from Ravenclaw, one of Potter's pals.

Luna just smiled her beautiful and calm smile at him. "Hermione is at our compartment with Neville, I just came to collect her robes," she informed him, grabbing Hermione's robes. "I think she'll forgive you soon, don't worry about it," she added.

"Right, thanks," he replied, uncertain about what Hermione told Luna.

"I'll reserve a seat for you on our carriage when we reach the station. See you later," Luna told him, and started going out of the compartment.

"Thanks again," Draco replied sincerely. He thinks he's gonna get along just fine with the blonde-haired Ravenclaw, she has this weird aura that seems to calm him.
