Hermione was taken aback by Narcissa's request. She looked uncertainly at the older woman, then at Draco.

Draco was also surprised at his mother's request. He saw that Hermione did not know what to say to this, a tinge of fear showed on her eyes when she looked at him.

"I don't need a babysitter, mother," Draco told his mother in his drawling voice. "I can take care of myself," he added.

"Draco, darling, I did not mean for Hermione to babysit you. I just want her to guide you to the right path. Maybe you can be friends with her so you won't go astray again," his mother explained.

"I think that's asking too much of her," Draco objected.

"I don't think it will work out," Harry told Narcissa. "We were not exactly friends before, or even in friendly speaking terms at school," he added.

Hermione kept quiet, not knowing what to say. She was not afraid of Draco, but befriending him has not crossed her mind in a million years.

"Draco, Harry, Hermione," Narcissa addressed the teens. "I thought we all wanted to put our pasts behind us. We may start it slowly, I am not telling you to be friends this instant but try to be civil towards one another. Being respectful to each other will be a great start." Narcissa told them.

"I will try to be nice to Draco if he will be to us," Harry replied uncomfortably. He already felt friendly with the older woman, but it was difficult to accept her son. But with Teddy being his godson, it is impossible to escape the Malfoys, they being Blacks too.

"Don't worry about that, Harry. My darling Draco will behave himself and be nice, right Draco?" Narcissa asked her son.

Draco looked at his mother with a frown. He would do anything for his mother, but this was ridiculous! Being friends with Potter and Weasley is outrageous! But since only the Gryffindor Princess will be going back to Hogwarts with him, it would not be that difficult to act nice towards her. Purebloods were taught to be gentlemen afterall. He wants his mother to be happy, if agreeing with this will be make her happy, then he would try. It is not as if he will be really needing Granger at school anyway, he will just try to be on his own at school to avoid being friendly towards the mudblood.

"Don't worry, mother. I will be civil towards them." Draco assured his mother.

Harry and Hermione could not believe the Ferret's words. Harry thought that Draco was just patronizing his mother, just like Dudley does to her Aunt Petunia. While Hermione thought that Draco must really love his mother to obey her request.

"Then, it's all settled then. Everyone will be nice to each other," Narcissa said gladly. "Thank you again Hermione and Harry. I will send you an owl soon for our dinner. Goodbye!" She added.

"Goodbye, Narcissa." Harry and Hermione replied in unison.

"Say goodbye, Draco," Narcissa told her son.

"Goodbye, Harry and Hermione." Draco told them in his drawling voice, looking at each of them with a smirk.

"Goodbye, Draco," Harry and Hermione replied to him.

They all apparated to their separate ways after their goodbyes, the Malfoys to their manor, Harry and Hermione to the Burrow to collect Ron.
