Chapter 3- Draco's Trial (Part 3)

"In behalf of the Wizengamot, may I call first Mr. Harry Potter to the witness stand for the trial of Mr. Draco Malfoy, a branded Death Eater, and whose father was a convicted Death Eater." the Minister said.

Harry stood and went to the Witness' Stand to take his oath to tell the truth. Hermione remained seated while half-glancing at Draco who had his head bowed low.

"Mr. Potter, may you please tell us what you know about what Mr. Malfoy here has done during Voldemort's attack at Hogwarts last May?" Kingsley asked Harry.

"Malfoy helped the Death Eaters enter the school. He was also ordered by them to kill Professor Dumbledore at the Astronomy Tower," Harry paused. He still cannot accept what happened to Dumbledore, but he also knew Dumbledore always give second chances even to the most unworthy persons. He continued, "But Draco Malfoy could not do it, he could not kill Dumbledore. That is all." Harry finished.

The Wizengamot whispered amongst themselves. Draco could not believe his ears, Potter seems to be defending him at what he told the Wizengamot.

"Silence, please! Thank you, Mr. Potter for your statement." Kingsley said. "May I now call on our other witness, Ms. Hermione Granger, to take the vacated witness stand." he continued.

"Ms. Hermione Granger, in behalf of the Wizengamot, could you please tell us what you know of Mr. Malfoy's part as a Death Eater during the war?" Kingsley asked Hermione.

Hermione looked at Kingsley nervously, this was her first time to attend a trial. After taking her oath to tell the truth, she began to feel more confident. "During the reign of Voldemort at the Ministry, through his dummy Minister Pius Thicknesse, he ordered to arrest all the muggleborn witches and wizards to be trialed. I was on that list being a muggleborn. During that time, I was with Harry Potter and Ronald Weasley on a quest to find Voldemort's horcruxes, a quest left to us by Professor Dumbledore." she paused for breath. "We were sighted by snatchers when we were at the Forest of Dean, they were successful in capturing us but I quickly disfigured Harry's face so he can be unrecognizable. The snatchers seemed to sense who we were so they brought us directly to Voldemort's headquarters and not at the Ministry. They brought us to Malfoy Manor and presented us to the Death Eaters there. Bellatrix Lestrange called Draco Malfoy to the room to verify if the snatchers really caught Harry and his friends." Hermione paused for breath. She continued, "Bellatrix asked Malfoy who we were, if it was Harry they caught so she may call Voldemort to the Manor. But, Draco Malfoy said he was not sure if it was Harry and his friends, he told his Aunt that he does not recognize us even though we have faced each other at school a thousand times. That is all, Minister." Hermione ended her statement.
