Draco read McGonagall's letter addressed to him. He was surprised to know that he was chosen as the Head Boy this year after all he has done previously. and being tried by the Ministry of Magic.

He glanced at the other letter addressed for Hermione, and knew instantly that her new friend is the Head Girl. Of course she will be, he thought to himself and was happy that it would be her. He knew that being the Head Boy (and Girl) both had privileges and responsibilities, and was glad he will be sharing it with Hermione.

The door of the compartment opened slowly, then Hermione went inside. She glanced at the compartment and saw Draco grinning at her on one side of the couch beside the window. She smiled warmly at him then turned to close the door.

While she was closing the door, she saw Draco's hand putting the latch on the door, locking it. He was standing close behind her, then he hugged her tightly, burying his nose in her hair. She was surprised by his actions, and stood frozen for a few seconds before turning around to hug him back.

"I miss you so much," Draco whispered on her ear. He was still hugging her tightly, her head was resting on his chest.

"I miss you too," she replied, hugging him back.

Draco looked at her in the eyes and smiled warmly at her, leaning closer to give her a kiss on the cheek, which was longer than necessary which made her melt. He then glanced at her soft red lips, longing to kiss them, but remembered their talk before they parted a few days ago.

Hermione was blushing now as he stared at her lips, wanting to kiss him too. She put her hands on his neck, and tiptoed to reach him, she planted a soft kiss on his cheek, very near his lips.

Draco took a sharp intake of breath, held her tighter, then moved his head a bit so they can properly kiss, their talk before about not kissing going out of the window. He kissed her gently at first on the lips, he missed her so badly and started kissing her passionately after a few seconds. He put one of his hands on her nape and while the other was still on her back.

Hermione could not contain herself when he kissed her, she returned his kisses as passionately as he does. She could hear both of their ragged breathing and hearts thumping.

After a few minutes, they were out of breath and broke out of their intense kiss. Their foreheads still touching.

"I'm sorry, I just couldn't help myself," Draco told her quietly, his eyes still closed.

"I'm sorry too, I know I shouldn't have kissed you back," she replied, looking at his face. She missed him so much even though it was just a few days since they were together.

"Come, sit and read your letter from McGonagall," Draco said, holding her hand and pulling her to sit in the couch he vacated when she arrived. He picked up the letter from the other couch, handed it to her, then sat close to her.

"By the way, Draco, why are you here in the first compartment too?" She asked curiously, before opening her letter.

"McGonagall told me to stay here for the train ride so people won't gawk at me and call me names," he replied seriously. He saw her frown, then added grinning, "Read your letter so you'll know why."

"Alright," she replied, opening the letter. She finished reading the letter quietly, then smiled at Draco who has his head on her shoulders and his eyes closed. "I'm Head Girl!" She whispered excitedly to him. She put two and two together and realized why he was in the first compartment too. "Then you're the Head Boy!" She exclaimed, hugging him.

"Congratulations, Hermione! No surprises there of course, you're the best in our batch, while I'm always the second best," he replied, grinning. It doesn't bother him anymore that Hermione had always beat him before, he does not care about those silly things after the war ended. He was just glad that he will be spending most of his current school year with her.

"Thanks, Draco. Congratulations too!" She replied grinning. "Then we are stuck with each other this year," she added, trying to hide her blush.

"Yes, you have me all for yourself day and night at the Head Dorms," he replied seductively. "Maybe we can have sleepovers, starting tonight," he added, winking at her.

Hermione blushed harder at Draco's flirting. "Stop that, Draco. We are just friends, remember?" She asked quietly.

"Yes, just friends, for now," he replied seriously. "But I think we will be more than that before the year ends," he added, smirking at her.

"Ha-ha," she replied back. "Don't be too sure about that," she teased.

"Alright, I change my statement then. I think you will agree to marry me before Christmas," he told her seriously, his eyes boring into hers.

Hermione was taken aback by his statement. Draco seems so confident about it. Christmas is only a few months away, and that is a very short time for them to date and then get engaged. She could not think of anything to say to him, so she just closed her eyes and took a deep breath.

Draco saw her thinking hard about what he had said, he was not joking about wanting to marry her. He wants her so badly, he just couldn't contain himself when she's near him. He misses her badly too when they are apart. He thinks he's already in love with her, and hopes she is too.

"Let's make our train rounds now, Head Girl," he said, changing the subject. He nudged her lightly so she'll open her eyes.

"Alright, let's go," she replied, glad that he changed the subject. It was too early for them to think about marriage at this point, but the thought of it thrilled her.

Draco stood up first, then extended his hands for her to take. She took it, then stood up too.

"Draco, I don't mean to offend you or anything. But, we should not be too cozy when we are around other people. I don't want people gossiping about us," she told him before they were about to go out of their compartment.

"Worried about making the headlines of the Daily Prophet?" He joked. He knows that it will a bad idea to flaunt their relationship just yet, but he really does not care about what other people think about him. But what they will say about Hermione matters, so he will respect her wishes to stay private.

"Draco, even my friends don't know yet about our friendship. So, I don't want other people to know yet about us. I hope you understand, please?" She told him seriously, worry etching on her pretty face.

"Don't worry, what happens on closed doors will stay a secret between us. Especially the ones inside our bedrooms," he said cheekily.

"I'm serious, Malfoy!" I don't want gossips on our first day back, she hissed. Blushing again by Draco's flirting.

"I'm serious too, Granger," he said, kissing her temple. He hugged her, rubbing her back to relax her.

"I'm sorry, Draco. I am not ashamed of being friends with you, but I really have to tell my friends about it first. And so do you," she replied, hugging him back.

"I know. Don't worry, I'm not offended. Just tell them when your ready for the big reveal," he told her.

"Thanks," she replied, happy that he understood her worries.

"Let's go," Draco said, squeezing her hand before releasing it to open the door and go out for their rounds.
