Her Twisted Mistake

Chapter 2

A week after the party, my Lola wants us, her girls-grandchild, to be in the mansion. She misses the banding kaya pinatawag kami. Carolina have to cancelled her flight dahil papunta dapat siya sa New York. Juliana has to apologize to her friends dahil birthday party ng isang kaibigan niya at hindi siya makakadalo. Sheena is free for a week kaya okay lang sa kanya.

"Hindi ako pwede," pag rason ko.

Carolina immediately snorted at that. "Anong hindi pwede? Wag ka ngang pa VIP, Sierra! Hindi ka nga lumalabas nitong bahay niyo sabi ni Tita, tapos hindi ka pwede?"

Sheena and Juliana laughed. I inhaled and trapped air in my mouth. I then act as if rinsing my mouth. I looked at Carolina while doing that and I saw her grimace at me.

"My god, Sierra! Twenty kana. Stop doing that!"

I let out the air and chuckled at her. "E pakialam mo ba. Kung inggit ka gawin mo din." I then winked at her just to tease her.

"Buti bagay sayo. Kung si Carolina ang gagawa niyan, hindi ko kakayanin." Si Sheena sabay tawa. I laughed with her.

I can't imagine the three of them doing some of my mannerism. They are too prim and proper to act unlady like, to act un-Romero-like. Romeros were known for being prim and sophisticated but unfortunately I'm not. Baka dahil matatanda din sila sa akin kaya ganon?

Carolina ignored us and continued with her dilemma.

"Sayang 'yong flight ko. I was anticipating the trip," she ranted. "I can't believe Lola wants to spend time with us!"

"Basta ako, hindi pwede. I am grounded... remember!" sabat ko that earns me a glare from Carolina.

"Tito lifted that." Si Sheena.

I immediately pursed my lips. Sayang naman! Umirap ako habang nag-iisip nang panibagong irarason. I can't go since I have to talk to one of my co-workers during my internship. Mag-uusap sana kami kung tutuloy kami sa US. It's a big career and I wanted it.

Lima kaming member sa isang team. I'm the only one that was invited from the Philippines, dalawa sa Japan, isa galing sa Germany at isa sa Morocco.

I don't know how they got to know about me and got the opportunity to invite me. Pero ang alam ko, it was a confidential invitation. The head of my university knows about it pero 'yon nga at sekreto. I think the head has a connection with the organization kaya ako na-invite. I got out of the country with the help of the head. I signed an agreement stating that I can't disclose any information. Kaya hindi ko masabi sabi sa pamilya ko.

Umalis ang tatlo matapos ng pag-bisita nila sa amin. They reminded me of what we're doing tomorrow. Susunduin daw ako ni Sheena para sure. I just grimaced at them as they left.

Wala na akong naisip na bagong alibi. Carolina always has a say to my made-up alibi na kesyo mas importante ang lakad niya yet she cancelled it. Juliana added that the party she was supposed to attend is important kaya walang wala ang alibi ko.

Being gang up by three, iniirapan ko nalang sila. I guess I have to cancel my meeting. Kainis naman! Bukas lang din daw ang free time nong ka-team ko sa Japan kasi may importante siyang ginagawa relating to a creation of a certain chemical.

Nakaka-bitter na 'yong apat kong kasamahan sa internship ay evolve na sa mga bagay related to their profession while I'm here, poor and have to work for my expenses!

When I told Papa that Lola wanted us in the mansion, sinabi niyang pumunta ako. I was expecting him to say 'No, you're grounded' but he didn't.

Kaya nang matutulog na ako, I emailed my friend that I can't make it to the meeting dahil may biglaang gagawin. She didn't reply because she must be busy.
