Her Twisted Mistake

Chapter 18

I sighed deeply as I realized I was stuck in the middle of the library early in the morning. I just finished my breakfast. Mama invited me to go with her on a shopping spree but I told her I have a meeting. Truth is I wanted to meet Reu because I miss him and I want a cuddle with him. In his condo or in their mansion or wherever he is. I just miss him. 

I was so ready to dress up and call him but I received a text message from Akari. It says we have a meeting and I have to attend because we will discuss things. 

I looked at the message for a few minutes. Hindi ko alam kung bakit hindi ako natutuwa sa nabasa ko. I never text Genesis even though I have her number because I find it no more important. 

I suddenly just find myself satisfied with my work and my life. I think I can live with just being an architect kahit na minsan lang ang mga project ko. I can just apply in a company if I find myself with no more clients. 

Pero nang mag text ulit si Akari ng link, nagpasya nalang akong pumasok sa library at inaccess ang link. Pagka-in ko, ako agad ang pang limang audience, meaning ako lang ang hinihintay nila. 

"Finally!" bungad ni Teresa nang makita ako. 

It earns a laugh from Genesis and Akari. I grinned and just trapped air in my mouth. I didn't say a thing. 

"How are you, Irine? It's been a long time," sinabi ni Martin matapos ang tawanan ng dalawa. He has a smug face. 

"I'm fine. You?" balik ko sa tanong. 

"He's fine." Hindi si Martin ang sumagot kundi si Teresa. 

"Whooo!!! We're here for a meeting. I don't have time for drama!" agad na anagl ni Akari. Kita kong umiling siya yet she has that annoying smile. 

Umirap ako. "I don't have time for drama too!" 

Martin laughed. 

"It's not a drama! I just answered Irine. Martin is okay! Where is the drama in there?" pag depensa ni Teresa sa sarili. She's grinning on the screen. 

"Okay! Guys let's start. I have work after this…" sabat ni Genesis after doing something on her phone. 

Kaya lang hindi pa kami nakakapag start nang biglang na out si Teresa. Natahimik kaming tatlo. Akala namin na offend siya. Magtatanong na sana si Akari, I saw and heard her say 'where is'  when Teresa appeared on Martin's screen. Umupo siya sa kandungan ni Martin and Martin put his hands on her waist to support her. Nakangisi silang pareho. 

I immediately put my hand on my mouth to suppress my laugh. Gagong babae! Akala naman niya kukunin ko si Martin? I have my Reu na! 

I heard Genesis' curses at the sight. Narinig ko rin ang daing ni Akari sa nakikita. 

Now, this is a drama! 

Nang magsalita na si Akari, nag seryoso na kami. We discuss things about the plan on when and how we will go to the US. 

Habang nakikinig, doon ko lang na realize na ako lang ang may komplikadong sitwasyon sa kanila. Payag ang mga magulang nila na magtrabaho sila sa US. They even got support from their parents. Ako lang ang hindi. I still seldomly tried convincing Mama. Pati si Papa pero it's no avail. Hindi sila pumapayag. 

The head of the organization send Martin a agreement kung tutuloy ba daw kami sa kanila. It just so happens na kailangan nila kaming lima. If one back out, lahat kami ay hindi na makakatuloy. The pressure of knowing it made me irritated. Parang ayaw ko nalang bigla. I waited for one of Akari, Genesis or Teresa to say they don't want to go pero walang nagsalita. Everyone is eager to go.
