Ice, Love and Everything in between

Chapter 2

My feet made contact with the ice and a smile creeped on my face

I can't really explain it but it was almost like I was finally able to breath after months

My legs began to move on it's own and before I knew it I was skating around so fast that I almost ran over someone

The cold breeze on my face felt so refreshing, my hair tied up allowed me to see the path before me clear, without any string of my hair in front of my face

"Gia" I heard someone scream, I turned around seeing Kate waving at me from outside the rink

"you can come back tomorrow so can we please leave soon, I'm freezing here" I looked at the time, 19.30

I've been here for almost 3 hours now

time sure passes by quickly here then it does anywhere else for me

I skated back to Kate, her cheeks and nose were all red "you look like a rudolf" I laughed, she gave me a warning look "Giaaa" "okay, okay I'll go get changed" "thank you" she said relieved

going back to campus was nothing special, a few drunk guys on the streets, a bunch of cars on the road and a pair of guys waiting in front of our dorms

Wait

I stopped walking when I saw them, Isaac and that dark haired guy from before

I looked at Kate "don't get mad but while you were skating Isaac called and asked me to dine with him"

"so what's he doing here" I said referring to the other guy

"well I told him that I usually eat dinner with you and that I won't ditch you just like that so he said he'll bring someone with him so you won't be third-wheeling" she said

"oh how considerate of you two" I said, sarcasm clearly noticeable in my voice

"please just do this for me just once" she pleaded with her big eyes and I let out a groan

"fine, but only this time Kate"

"you're awesome" she took my hand and started walking towards them, great this is about to be the longest dinner of my life

AT A RESTAURANT

Kate and Isaac are chatting while that other guy is just looking at me like he can't decide if he's gonna say something or just stay quiet

I hate silence, it makes me so uneasy so I spoke up first

"since you know my name it's only fair that I know yours too don't you think?" I said

he cleared his throat and brought his hand up, extending it to me "I'm Nathan, Nathan Langston"

I shook his hand and couldn't help but notice the rings on his fingers, they were really pretty, silver and very detailed

"you can let go of my hand now" he said and I quickly pulled my hand back, I noticed Kate and Isaac giving us a quick smile

After a minute or so the waiter finally came and we placed our orders

I turned my attention to Nathan, he was talking to Isaac about something and Kate was just listening to them

I saw that as an opportunity for me to check my phone real quick

I was scrolling through instagram when I let out a loud gasp "oh my god"

"what is it?" Kate asked curious

"you know that competition I've been telling you about"

"you mean the one that only takes place every 4 years and that you wanted to attend ever since you were little?"

"yeah, it will be hold this year, look" I said giving her my phone

"that's really close to campus, you need to go Gia, this could be your chance to go pro"

She's right, this is a HUGE opportunity but there's one problem

"But there's one problem, it's only for duos, and the competition is already in less than 4 months, it will be hard to find a suitable partner in time"

she gave me back my phone "you could still try to find someone" she said

"I know, I'll think about it" I said giving her a quick smile

don't get me wrong, I'd love to compete in this competition but finding a compatible partner in such short period of time is rather difficult

The sound of plates being placed on table brought me back from my thoughts

I'll deal with this later, for now I need to pay my full attention to this delicious pasta in front of me

BACK AT THE DORMS

I stepped out of the shower with my hair dripping wet and my eyes burning from the shampoo

I quickly dried my hair, put on my shorts and over-size T-shirt, brushed my teeth and headed to the bed

I wanted to go to sleep since it was already 22.00 but Kate had other plans

"so what did you think of Nathan?"

"here we go"

"what, I'm just asking an inoccent question"

"yeah right, you're plotting something aren't you"

"how dare you accuse me of something like that" she said fake pounding

I was about to argue back when my phone lit up and I saw a text-message appear on my screen

I opened it

UNKOWN: "Hi Grumpy"

"Kate"

"yeah?"

"did you give Nathan my number?"

"I don't recall doing that sorry" she said turning around and pulling the covers over her head

"I'll deal with you later" I threatened as I fixed my eyes back on my phone

ME: "what do you want?"

a few seconds later he already responded

UNKOWN: "being a little nicer won't hurt you, you know"

ME: "It's already late so please get to the point so I can go to sleep"

I might have been a little rude but I can't help the fact that I get grumpy when I'm tired

my phone lit up again with another text message appearing on the screen

UNKOWN: "I'm just wondering if you're good at tutoring, because I'm failing a few of my classes and the headmaster said that if I don't get my grades up I won't be able to play hockey anymore"

ME: "so you want me to tutor you? what do I get out of it?"

UNKOWN: "I'll be your partner for the competition"

Hi Guys!
I hope you enjoyed chapter 2, I'll be back on friday with a new chapter.
I'd also like to let you guys know that chapters 1-4 are more of a story intro, however after chapter 4 there will be more going on, starting off with their first ice-skating lesson together, which doesn't exactly go according to Gia's plan...
