HER POV

Dad?

Now that he mentioned it, I do see the resemblance

But I get a feeling that this 'reunion' won't go so well

I looked at Nathan

His expression told me everything, he was shocked, angry, confused even

His lips parted but no words came out

"you got quite the rink here" his dad said

Nathan didn't give him an answer so he continued

"I wanted to talk to you about something"

"I don't wanna hear it" Nathan said and was about to walk away when his dad spoke up again, causing him to stop in his track

"I'm sorry"

Nathan's eyes immediately snapped to his dad

"you're sorry? sorry for what? for not being a part of my life for the past few years?"

"about everything"

"well save it, I don't need your lousy apologies"

"please son, let's talk about this somewhere private" his dad said, referring to me listening to their conversation

"don't call me that and if you have something to say, say it here, I have no intention of hiding it from Gia" Nathan snapped

"Gia huh? she your girlfriend?"

"yes, which you would know if you cared to call, maybe ask me about my day or how I've been doing"

His dad remained quiet, but his eyes showed that Nathan's words hurt him

For some reason, that made me irritated

How dare he act hurt when Nathan's the one suffering here

"why are you even here?" Nathan asked, his voice making it clear that he wants to end this conversation as soon as possible

"I came to give you this" his dad said as he handed him an envelope

Nathan gave him a sceptic look but took it regardless

I watched his eyes widen, his expression turning to an angry one

"a wedding invitation?" he asked in disbelief

"It's in a week and I want you to come"

"what about your last girlfriend? weren't you supposed to marry her?"

His last girlfriend?

The one that caused Nathan and his dad to get in that argument where he left home?

I remember him telling me about it when he broke down in my arms that time

"it didn't work out"

Nathan just let out a scoff

"and how is now any different then?"

"because I truly love her" his dad said

I didn't hear anything come out of Nathan's mouth so I turned to him

The look in his eyes broke me, like he was just betrayed and left alone

"I- I thought you loved mom" he said, his voice breaking

"son, please understand-

Nathan didn't let him finish as he spoke up over him

"her birthday was a week ago and you didn't even care to visit her grave. How do you expect me to be happy for you and your new wife when you completely abandoned your first"
