"so did you win?" my six year old daughter asked

She was sitting on the carpet in the living room, a cardboard box with 'ICE SKATING' written on it beside her

She found it while helping me clean the garage

She of course got a bunch of questions, starting with 'is that how you and daddy met?'

And so I told her the whole story

From the very scratch

How we met through Kate and Isaac and ended up performing together at the figure skating competition

"we did and that victory ended up opening our way into figure skating career"

"but, why don't you skate anymore mommy?"

"I lived my dream of being an ice skater. Your daddy and I continued to be skating partners for a few more years before we decided to retire and have you" I said softly

"but daddy, what happened at your game?" my daughter Abigail asked

We named her after Nathan's mom and it suited her perfectly

She had my light brown hair but Nathan's dark eyes

He always says that her smile is like mine, no denying it

"your uncle Isaac handled it better than I could imagine. A pretty famous coach noticed him that day and gave him a one in a lifetime opportunity"

Isaac went pro in ice hockey career after that day

I still remember Kate screaming from excitement after hearing the news from him on their phone call when we were driving back home

"tell me again mommy" Abigail said as she turned to me

"the whole story?" I chuckled

She gave me a happy nod

"maybe some other time sweetheart, don't forget that we're having guests over soon" Nathan said as he gently brushed over our daughter's cheek

My eyes remained on his wrist where laid the bracelet that I gave him when we were in college

It was a little worn out and had to go through quite a few repairs but he still hasn't taken it off

"are Luis and Tomas coming?" she asked excited

"that's right, so you better get dressed"

Her happy smile slightly dropped

"but, I want to hear the story again, at least the beginning"

I exchanged a quick look with Nathan

"what if we rather show you where it all started instead of telling it to you?" I suggested

Her big eyes lit up at my words

"I'll be ready in a minute" she said as she got up and sprinted upstairs

"I'll go help her out" Nathan said

He walked over to me and planted a kiss on my forehead before heading upstairs as well

I turned my gaze back to the cardboard box laying on the floor

This brought back so many memories and I'm glad it did

I got up and walked over to it, ready to put it away when the door bell rang

"looks like they're here" I said to myself before I made my way to the doors

The moment I opened them, two pair of hands wrapped around my legs

I looked down and saw two smiling boys
