(Y/n)'s POV

This is it! I'm getting promoted into the big leagues! I'm going to be a top detective! I prepared my stuff and went into the precinct.

'Welcome, (Y/n).' I was welcomed by my boss Kamisato Ayato 'I've heard quite a lot of praise about your work. I've heard you are quite the detective too.'

'Thank you, sir.' I said, smiling, and he chuckled a bit

'Here is your new case file. You may read through it, and before I forget! You will be working with many others. You can meet them later in the break room.'

'Yes, sir.'

He nodded.

I walked into the break room, preparing to meet my new partner. I'm always ready to work with new people! Ha, Heziou! You can kiss my a-.

'Hi!' I began when it hit me

NO, NO, NO, NO! Dammit! No, it can't be him!

'Well, hello, Watson!' he said cheekily

'YOU!' I growled. 'NOT YOU!'

He blinked twice like the idiot he was until it hit him too.

'Well, well, well, if it isn't my little admirer (Y/n).' he said, smirking

Captain Kamisato smiled

'Oh, it looks like you two know each other! Wonderful. Then I'm sure you two will work well together. Heizou, (Y/n) you two are going to be partners.'

Oh no! NO, NO, NO, WHY, PLEASE, NOT ON MY FIRST DAY!

'Uh, Captain I-' I began

'I'm sure you won't  have any issues, right?' he asked me

God fucking dammit.

'No sir. I'm very excited to work with Detective Heizou.' I said, glaring at Heizou

'Wonderful.'

Once Captain Kamisato left, Heizou spoke up.

'This must be a dream come true for you, my dear admirer.' he said

'I am not your fucking admirer!' I hissed and then took a deep breath. 'Ahem, we should work on our case.'

'Well, then, princess, come along and try to keep up.,' he said with a smirk.

I wanted to burn holes into the back of his head but refrained from insulting him. Remain professional (Y/n). You can't strangle him in public.

'Don't call me princess.' I said, 'And you should try to keep up. Don't want you to fall behind.'

I quickly paced ahead of him. Of all the people in Teyvat, I'm partnered up with the biggest asshole to exist. Just my luck!

Heizou's POV

I didn't want a partner because I didn't need one. Unfortunately, Captain Kamisato told me that I needed a new partner so that I didn't manage to get "myself killed." I mean, my fists are considered deadly weapons all over the world. Also, my dashing looks make anyone pass out within seconds.

When I was thinking about a new partner...I never thought it would be her! (Y/n) (L/n)...we practically grew up together. People were very easy to read for me. They were...predictable, but then there is little old (Y/n) here. I was never able to figure her out. No matter how much I tried, she always found a way to surprise me!

'Come on, Master Detective.' I heard her call me sarcastically, 'We got work to do.'

I snapped out of my thoughts and came up behind her. By the time I reached her, I saw that she had already made notes and put up pictures with things organized neatly. I was just gone for a few seconds! H-how did she? She looked at me and smirked.

'What? Surprised?' she asked, smirking

I cleared my throat

'Let's just get started.' I said

She nodded and began telling some facts that I had already read through like a good detective.

'Well, so we're inves-'

'We're investigating a murder that occurred in a wealthy family's home, and there was supposed to be a family of three...a daughter, a mother, and a father.' I completed

'Yes...an-'

'And the only bodies found in the home were of the parents, and there seemed to be no sign of the daughter, which means she was either murdered in a different area which is illogical, or-'

'She was kidnapped.' she stated simply

'She could a-'

'She was kidnapped.' she stated, looking directly into my eyes.

'How are you so sure?' I asked, raising a brow and crossing my arms

'Well, if you did do your research on your victims, you would know that this family is no ordinary family. The family is a Snezhnayan diplomatic family. This makes their net worth a lot more than others since they were affiliated with the wealthiest company of Teyvat, the Fatui. The father was a chairman of the company.'

I blinked twice.

'How long have you had that case file?' I asked

There was no way she did all that research so soon.

'I just got it today. How long did you have it?'

I blushed from embarrassment. I've had this file for a day now, and she did all of this so quickly.

'I got it today too.'

'You're a bad liar.'

'W-what I-how did you know I lied!?' I asked, surprised and annoyed

'I didn't. You just confirmed my suspicions, dumbass.' she smirked.

I stared in disbelief.

'Now, now detective, shall we continue?'

'Is there anything you know about the girl?' she asked.

'Well, her name is Diana. She's about sixteen years old and goes to  Ajax Prep High School.'

'Ajax Prep? Isn't that like an hour away from the diplomat's residence?'

Captain Kamisato showed up beside us.

'Oh? You two are already at work. That's wonderful!' he said

'C-Captain.' she said, looking at him. 'Y-yes, we were just about to go over some facts.'

He nodded.

Ayato's POV

I could tell the moment (Y/n), and Heizou interacted, they would work together. When I was reading through (Y/n)'s case file and applications, I noticed that she was pretty similar to Heizou in many aspects. I'm sure they'll work well together. They had gotten quite far in the research too.

(Y/n) did seem a bit annoyed at Heizou, though. But they are grown adults; they'll figure it out. Once I left their side, they started bickering again. I chuckled; these two are definitely going to be a force to be reckoned with.
