'Is it done.'
'I-'
'So you failed me again, Tomodachi.' I said coldly
'Sir, I didn't mean t-' he began when I clicked the button, which shocked him
'Don't speak out of turn, Tomo.'
'I-I apologize.'
I let out a sigh of annoyance while staring at the surveillance. Then I noticed another young boy. He was sneaking around a bit too closely. He seemed like a journalist. I sighed in annoyance. Too many people are meddling their noses in places they don't belong.
'Children these days tend to stick their noses in places they don't belong.' I grumbled, 'Tomo try to be useful this time...get rid of the detectives and the journalist.'
'Y-yes sir.' he responded
Tomo's POV
I stared at the screen again. The young journalist looked familiar, just like the girl. Then I looked at the screen where the maroon haired detective took the girl's hand and ran with Regina's collar. The boy looked determined, and I could tell he wanted to get her out of there safely. I ran my fingers across my collar. It scares me. The collar was a literal torture device that the Doctor used for his own entertainment. He'd always find an excuse to use it on me. I decided to use the journalist's curiosity to my advantage. I prepared false information to send them to the respected places.
Kazuha's POV
How could she? How could she keep this from me? My mind kept going back to that night. The night I found out my best friend had changed. She wasn't the (Y/n) I knew.
***Flashback***
'Kazu, wait! P-Please don't go.' (Y/n) whimpered, falling to the floor and sobbing
I stumbled and stopped in my tracks. I hate this. I wanted to run to her and hug her and tell her its alright. I felt like a monster when I heard her pleas and sobs. I gritted my teeth. No, she lied to me. She kept this huge secret from me. This is her fault, but she's still my best friend.
'Go home (Y/n)...before you catch a cold.' I said coldly
I wiped my eyes angrily. This is her fault. She brought this upon herself, but...I still love her like my own sister. Flashes of our childhood flooded my brain. I shook my head, trying to get them out. I sighed. Now it's time I find my brother...and bring him home.
***Flashback***
My thoughts were interrupted by Yuki. She was a bit late today, which was strange.
'Hey, Yuki. Was there a lot of traffic?'
She shook her head.
'Kazu...you can't ignore her forever.' she said calmly
'H-Huh?' I asked, confused
'I know about your fight with (Y/n).'
I grumbled. Please not this. I can't deal with this right now. I sighed
'She brought this onto herself, Yuki...this is her fault.'
'Kazu, she had no choice...she didn't want to hurt you.' she urged, raising her voice a bit while frowning.
'She brought this upon herself! She lied, Yuki! She lied about my brother. I don't trust liars.'
Yuki looked at me, a bit annoyed.
'You left her in the rain Kazuha. She was alone and afraid in the rain.' Yuki said angrily
'That's not my problem. I'd told her to go home, but she didn't.' I retorted,
'She was scared!' Yuki said angrily while glaring at me
'That's not my problem. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have work to do.'
Yuki frowned. Her blue eyes showed clear annoyance.
'You can't run from this forever.' she said. 'You'll have to address this at some point.'
I grumbled, annoyed, as I walked away.
Yuki's POV
What I just saw today was new. Kazuha seemed different. He was insensitive and bitter. Sure, (Y/n) lied to him about his brother, but that doesn't give him the right to be so insensitive to her. He doesn't even know her side of the story. This wasn't fair for her. It made me mad and annoyed. I sighed and decided to go and work instead.
Heizou's POV
I'd be lying if I said I didn't miss (Y/n). I miss her cheeky comments, her smile, and her laugh; I just missed...her. I know that deciding to change partners was my idea...but it was for the best. Captain Kamisato offered to pair me up with Sara, but I declined. If I had a partner...it would be (Y/n). I don't want anyone else. My desire, however, doesn't give me the right to force her to be my partner. I was sparring with one of the rookies, who I easily beat.
'Whoa, Detective, that's six in a row! You're unbeatable.' the rookie said, and I chuckled. 'Fighting you is impossible!'
It was indeed impossible, but there was one girl who could kick my ass within seconds. She'd done it with ease and grace too.
'You think fighting's hard?' I began staring at (Y/n)'s figure. 'Try fixing something. It takes time and patience...a thing can be broken within mere seconds. One action can destroy anything, and it can take decades to heal.'
I could tell that she heard me. She froze for a second with her back still facing me. She didn't say anything, but I could tell she was listening.
'Is that why you stopped working with Detective (L/n)?'
'Something like that...' I said with a sad smile
(Y/n) and I made eye contact, and I immediately broke it. She didn't say anything, but I could tell something was on her mind...bothering her. I wanted to ask her what it was and find a solution for it, but it was not my place anymore...I've lost that right a long time ago.
(Y/n)'s POV
I heard his words, and they hit deep. I wanted to talk to him. I wanted to apologize for the way I yelled at him...but he walked away. I sighed a bit. Yuki let me stay over at her house last night, and I'm eternally grateful for what she's done for me. I sighed as I made my way home. I'd given Yuki the keys to Kazuha's car because I know Kazu wouldn't want to see me at all right now. A part of me was mad at him. If only he'd listen to me and let me explain why I lied...but then another part of me was telling me he was right to be mad. Yuki tried to help me get rid of my worries, but...my mind was still cruel. When I reached home, I saw a letter. I picked it up. It had some pictures and other things that looked like potential leads to the case, but I knew they were forged. First, an anonymous tip and pictures of a highly classified case? This was definitely a fake.
