Heizou's POV

I sighed. Another long day at work. I was walking home when I bumped into someone.

'Sorry about that.' I told the man while shooting him an apologetic smile

The man grumbled in response. He glared at me, and his violet eyes almost glowed as if there were bolts of lightning trapped in them trying to claw ou† of his eyes and strike themselves at me. The man scoffed and walked away. Wow, some people are plain rude. He probably doesn't ge† himself any bitches. I mean, with an attitude like that, it wouldn't be surprising. I unlocked the door to my house.

I held the phone records recordings and the case file in my hands. I should study the phone records for the case, but...the case file was more important since it is potentially related to the case, but it's also related to (Y/n). I sat at my dining table with both of the things staring back at me. It has been three hours. I haven't touched it either. I mean, I went and unscrambled and organized the phone records, but I haven't seen them. (Y/n) had scrambled them up pretty well too. Heh, but she underestimated me.

I found myself drifting off to my interaction with (Y/n) today.

"It's called a hustle, sweetheart~" I remembered her saying that to me in such a sarcastically sweet voice.

I chuckled to myself. She was one bold girl. I'll give her that. I subconsciously touched the spot on my forehead where she had flicked her fingers on.

No! C'mon, Heizou, focus! (Y/n) is your co-worker and your rival. You can't keep thinking about her. Shoo! Go away! You hate (Y/n)! She's just a girl. And it's been years since we reunited again. I finally met her again a day ago. I slapped my face.

'STOP. THINKING. ABOUT. HER!' I scolded myself harshly

Oww...that hurt. What can I say? I have a magical punch. I laughed at my own joke. No one was with me in the room, though.

'This is just sad.' I sighed to myself

I let out another long sigh

'I'm so fucking lonely.' I deadpanned. 'I should focus on work now.'

I took a deep breath and opened the case file. I read through the case file thoroughly. There was a picture of a young man with purple eyes, a crescent scar over his nose, and sandy blonde hair tied up in a ponytail. I held up the picture of the crime scene and the picture in the case file. The resemblance was uncanny.

Name: Tomodachi

Age:  19 to 20 years

Description: Tall male with a crescent scar over the nose. Violet eyes, strongly built, and about 5"8 f† tall.

Lead Officer: Officer A**x

Police report: Tomodachi or Tomo was found missing on *** of ****. His home was found to be ransacked, and there is potential speculation of breaking and entering. The house was found empty and destroyed by his younger brother ****** and his friend (**). The teenagers found the house like that at **:** p.m. after they returned from school. The teenagers, both age 16, explained their findings and did not have much to go on. It is speculated that this was a missing person's case. Tomodachi did not come back home and had been missing for almost two weeks. There wasn't any sort of letters explaining his disappearance or any ransom calls. The last thing found related to him was a *****. We report this to be a missing person's case, and Tomodachi is presumed to be dead.

The main information I needed was blacked out, and parts of the file were missing. Who were the two kids who found that house ransacked? I need to find them. I can potentially ask (Y/n) about it, but she might get mad. I picked up the picture from the crime scene and the picture from the case file. These two are definitely the same person. The one at the crime scene just looked a bit older. Why was this information blacked out, though? It's like someone doesn't want to know the whole story. Who was the head detective? Why was their name blacked out? They probably were corrupted or bribed. The case file has to be much, much more thicker than this. I mean, this "Tomo" guy went missing for over a week. There had to be more research and investigation on it. This seems to be way more complicated than I thought.

Now I'm positive he's related to the case, and he is a big part of a bigger conspiracy. Once I get more information, I'll talk to (Y/n). I don't care if this is personally related to her or any other bull shit. This is the real world, and two people are already dead because of this. One girl is kidnapped, and her life is probably in danger too. So she needs to woman up, and besides, she said she doesn't care right, so she needs to deal with this.

I squinted a bit and noticed a symbol on Tomo's shirt. It looked like a fatui symbol. That's strange. Tomo looks a bit too young to be in the fatui back then. Then why did he have that? Then my eyes widened. Wait, the man I bumped into today...he looked familiar. Wait...I took the picture from the crime scene...wait, I saw him today! God dammit! Shit, shit, shit! I lost my chance to find this mystery guy...I had him right in front of me!

'DAMMIT.' I yelled to myself

(Y/n)'s POV

I didn't want to stop working or go home. If I go home...I'll be free...If I'm free, I'll think about Tomo and that he's a criminal now.

'No! (Y/n) Think positive! M-maybe he's a private investigator now! And he's doing this as a case for a client.'

'What client? A criminal? Tch thi-' I was interrupted by a ping on my phone. I picked it up and saw it was a ping from...Kazuha

"Hey (N/n)! A bunch of my friends and I were going to check out this new restaurant! You wanna come with?"

"No"

"What?! You're always down for free food! What's wrong?"

"I'm fine."

I know the replies I sent were dry but I just can't see or talk to Kazuha...not after what I found out.
