(Y/n)'s POV
Urgh, Kazu was right again. I woke up with a terrible hangover. My alarm blared loudly. I smashed the snooze button. But I missed, and I don't know...it felt like it was louder than before.
'ALRIGHT! ALRIGHT! I'M UP, GOD DAMMIT!' I yelled, 'Fucking piece of shit.'
I got up too fast, and my head was pounding. I really need to stop drinking like this. Urgh, I can hear Kazuha's voice in my head too.
"(N/n)! Hey, how about you lay off those drinks...you have work tomorrow!"
My answer was even worse.
"Who cares about work, Kazu? I need to that hell tomorrow anyways, so lemme have this, will ya!?"
He was right...again.
'I should not have drank last night.' I mumbled, 'It was a bad idea. Stupid (Y/n)! Stupid!'
I trudged into the bathroom and looked at my (h/l) (h/c) hair. I looked like some sort of oompa loompa from a children's book.
(relatable (Y/n)...so relatable)
'The fuck you lookin at?' I said to my reflection. 'C'mon (Y/n), stop being a bitch. You have work!'
I went into my kitchen and prepared the tea that Kazuha had left for me. He had left a note for me too.
"Hey (N/n), I know you're probably having a bad hangover right now, so I've kept the ingredients for the sobering tea on the counter with the recipe. Also...Ha! I told ya so!"
'Love Kazuha.' I said, reading through it,
He had even made a cheeky little doodle of himself on the side.
'You cheeky little...yeah, you're right again, you stupid sweet guy.'
I chuckled a bit before I realized I was talking to myself. I'm glad I have Kazuha as my best friend. We always had each other, and I...just hope he doesn't leave or disappear as Tomo did. No! (Y/n) don't think about him! He's been gone for years. I sighed and prepared the tea.
The tea helped my hangover...to an extent. I walked to the precinct. I was in a relatively good mood until I wasn't. I had my nice cup of coffee as I entered, smiling at my co-workers until my least favorite one showed up.
'Coffee for me? Aw, you shouldn't have! Are you sure you're not in love with me (Y/n)?' Heizou said while grabbing the coffee from my hand with that stupid shit eating grin of his.
I looked at him in annoyance and visibly gasped. That complete ASSHOLE!. That coffee is mine! He happily sipped it.
'H-HEY!' I said, annoyed.
'You wanted some? Oh, you know, that would be an indirect kiss (n/n)~. We're at work (Y/n). Maybe if you ask nicely, I'll give you one later~.'
My blood boiled. His stupid face. His stupid everything! Urgh, he thought I would want to kiss him? I wouldn't kiss him even if he was the last man on earth. Now, now (Y/n), you can't strangle him right now...you're in public.
'I'd rather kiss a blobfish than kiss you.' I said, annoyed. 'And the blobfish would still be a better kisser than you.'
I visibly saw his expression falter. He took some nice emotional damage there. Great job (Y/n)! I smirked. Now it will make him a little less egotistical. Always go for the ego, kids. That's where the true joy is. I heard a few of the coworkers whisper among themselves.
"Oof, right for the ego, huh? Remind me to never piss off the newbie."
"I heard she's as feisty in training as she is with her tongue."
I smirked. Good now I've asserted some dominance now, and the best thing is that I showed Heizou to back off from flirting with his rival. Now hopefully, no one will mess with me. I mean, even if they do, I'll handle them.
Heizou's statement reminded me of when we were kids.
"I'm going to marry you (Y/n)! I'll be your husband when we grow up! Just you watch!"
I shivered at the thought. There would be no way I'd marry him. Who would want to spend the rest of their life with this cheeky annoying dumbass? I definitely wouldn't. Not even for a million mora. Not even if my life depended on it. I do not want to be stuck with him more than I am right now. If this job wasn't the most important thing to me, I would have simply said that I didn't want to work with him. I do not want to piss off Captain Kamisato.
'C'mon now, Master Detective.' I said sarcastically, 'We have work to do now.'
'You're mean.' he mumbled
I rolled my eyes.
'I'm just telling you the truth. You're the one who started flirting with me even when you know that I hate you.'
'You don't mean that~.' he said
'Oh, I mean that.' I said bluntly, 'Now, if you'll excuse me, I have real work to do and don't want to waste any more of my precious time with you.'
I started walking ahead.
'H-Hey, wait for me!' he said, scrambling after me.
I crossed my arms and waited for him near the work board with the connections we made with the evidence, which wasn't much. I tapped my feet impatiently. Wow, he was slow. Even after being caffeinated and completely sober. Or is it just me? Since I'm still going through my hangover. Things do seem like they are going in slow motion, to be honest.
'Hurry up, slow poke!' I called after him
I chuckled a bit at his grumpy face.
'So, did you find anything new?' I asked
'O-Oh yes! Yes, I did.' he said excitedly. 'Here, check this out.'
Heizou's POV
'There's been this guy in every photo of the crime scene and the photos of the cooperation.' I explained, 'I got a clearer picture of him too. Here take a look.'
Her expression turned sour, and she looked surprised the moment she saw the man.
'Tomo?' she whispered to herself
'Do you know him?'
(Y/n) froze up. Her (e/c) eyes were wide with surprise. Her hands shook a bit as she held the photo of the man.
'What's the matter?' I asked, but she remained quiet '(Y/n)?'
She shook her head.
'N-No, this guy isn't relevant...he probably doesn't matter.' she said, but I could tell she was telling that to herself and not as much to me.
'Do you know him?' I asked
'N-No. I've never seen this man in my life.' she said, panicked and loud
She was lying. This man is more suspicious now. He has a connection with this case and with (Y/n). Who is this man? Where did he even come from?
