Don't Drink On The Job

(Y/n)'s POV

I felt Heizou put his hand on my shoulder. I looked up to see his face full of concern.

'Hey, you good (Y/n). If this is too claustrophobic for you, I can do the required investigating and give you an update.' he said with a kind smile.

'N-No, I'm fine. We need to go see who our mystery guy is.'

I have to woman up. I can't let my old ties and attachments cloud my judgment. I froze as I tried to go near Tomo's booth. Flashes of his old smile and goofy laugh. Every time he'd get me out of a fight, and that day. The day I put all my trust into him. The day I got attached and vulnerable when it came to him.

"(Y/n) I'll always catch you when you fall. I promise. I'll never leave. You mean a lot to me, and I would never hurt you."

"Pinkie promise?"

I could hear his slight airy chuckle, which was filled with warmth.

"I pinkie promise. You have me as your personal guardian angel."

Then all those bright memories threw me to that night. The night I realized Tomo was alive, but...instead of the warm one, I remembered there was a cold, scary man. I could never be scared of Tomo...at least, that's what I thought.

'No, I'm ok.' I said calmly

'We should approach one of those two calmly. They seem like pretty big guys. Also, we don't want to give our position away right, so we need to take this stealthily.'

I nodded

'But how will we be stealthy?'

'You two stick out like sore thumbs, so if you want my advice? Relax a bit. Have a drink, let loose. See?' Kaveh interrupted, pointing to a bunch of girls and guys trying to cozy up with random patrons. 'Everyone is blackout drunk, and you two are absolutely sober. I'm not saying you have to drink much, but you probably need to drink a bit.'

'Oh no nuh uh no way.' I said, shaking my head, 'I don't drink on the job!'

Ok, look, that's not the real reason I don't wanna drink at work. The real reason is that I'm a terrible lightweight. Two or fewer shots? I'm gone! Out like a light. Kazu has had to deal with that a lot. Also, it would be so embarrassing too! In front of Heizou, and everyone would hear about it at the precinct, then I'd have to change my name and identity.

'C'mon (Y/n), lighten up a bit, will ya?' Heizou said, nudging me

'No.'

'Your loss~.' he said, waving a glass in front of me

I rolled my eyes and looked away.

Heizou's POV

I did drink a bit, but I don't need to worry. It takes a lot to get me blackout drunk. How do I know this...you don't want to know. I shuddered at the thought of the night before my criminology exam.

'Hey, Master Detective. Don't get yourself too drunk now.' (Y/n) said smugly. 'We don't need another drunk criminology major hovering about.'

'Ha ha, very funny, Princess.' I said, rolling my eyes

She giggled a bit.

(Y/n)'s POV

I stared at the glass of alcohol on the table.

'I know you want to have it (Y/n). You've been staring at it for a while now. If it was alive, it would pee itself.' Kaveh said

'Did you just say "pee itself"?' I asked him, 'What are you, 9?'

'Oh, hush now (N/n). Go on, take a sip.' Kaveh urged

'Alright, I'll do it, but if I do any stupid shit, tell Heizou it's your fault.'

He let out a chuckle.

'Alright, I'll tell your little boyfriend I did an oopsy and put alcohol in your water.'

I grumbled, and then it all spiraled out of control. One sip was all it took to get me knocked out drunk.

Heizou's POV

I was getting pretty good and making my way to Tomo when I realized why (Y/n) begged me not to let her drink.

'HEIZZOOOOUUUUWWWW!' she called out to me, drunk

I turned to see her wobbling toward me

'WAIT FOW MEEEE!'

She bumped into a man who was thrice her size. Look, if she wasn't drunk, I wouldn't be worried. But seeing this wobbling (Y/n) was not good. She cannot fight him.

'Watch it!' the man said harshly.

'Well, you should've *hic* watched it first!' she said as the man grumbled at her. 'Oh, so you wanna fight, eh?! *Hic* Try mwe!'

She balled up her fists, ready to fight a battle she would definitely lose.

'Tch, go home, Princess before I take your legs and snap them like twigs.'

'Is twat a chawwenge!?' she yelled.

Oh god, this girl is going to get herself killed. I raced my way to her as the man prepared his first blow. Before he could punch her, I punched him.

'POW! Take thwat!' she yelled, mimicking a weak punch. 'And thwat!'

The man was bold...I'll give him that, but he messed with the wrong girl. (Y/n) isn't dying. As long as I'm there no one is going to hurt her because she has a sheild now. That sheild is me, the one and only Shikanion Heizou. Before I knocked the guy out I pulled him by the collar.

'Also...only I get to call her Princess ya got that buddy.' I said smirking

I finally knocked him out and (Y/n) flung herself onto me.

'YAAAAAYYY! WE BWEAT UP THE BWAD GUYYYY!' she reeked of alcohol.

Unfortunately the men got away but I noticed something clinging onto (Y/n)'s shoe. It was letter about Pandora. At least I have that. I glared at Kaveh who gave me a sheepish grin. I sighed now the damage was done. And (Y/n) is in no shape to travel or even walk for that fact. I picked her up bridal style and sigh.

'Time to get ya home Princess.' I said holding her as she giggled 'I'll come and pick up the stuff tomorrow.'

Kaveh nodded. As I made my way with (Y/n) in my arms she got really giggly.

'You were swoooo bwave!' she said still smelling like alcohol 'You made all those bad guys go BOOM!'

I chuckled a bit. She was asorable this way. I couldn't help but smile at her.

'And for being such a good boy I'll give you a reward!' she said taking my face in her hands and kissing my cheek

My face went red and she only giggled in response. This girl...will be the end of me. I eventually got her home and I could tell she was sobering up. I dropped her to her door.

'Oh archons that was embaressing.' she mumbled

I chuckled

'Don't worry, Princess; you're alright.' I said, giving her a wink

She blushed

'This is why I told you I shouldn't drink on the job!' she said. 'You wo-'

'Your secret's safe with me. Don't worry; I don't want to embarrass you. I'd never let anyone do that to my Princess~.'

(Y/n)'s POV

I blushed at his comment. He kissed my cheek.

'Good night Princess~. Sweet dreams.' was all he said before he left.

My heart was racing and my cheeks were burning. What's happening to me...why is my heart screaming his name?
