'(Y/n), you're lying.' I said, looking into her eyes
'I'm not lying! I've never seen this man ever in my life.' she said angrily
'I never accused you of knowing this man personally (Y/n). Why are you being so defensive?'
'It's none of your business. This man isn't related to the case, Heizou. So drop this topic and stop interrogating me!' she yelled louder.
'Why are you getting so defensive (Y/n)?' I repeated sternly, 'Why are you being so defensive over a man you "don't know"?'
I responded with air quotes.
She balled her hands into fists with a look of pure hatred and rage in her eyes.
'It's none of your business Master Detective! Mind your own damn business and drop this topic!' she yelled with her voice rising. 'Urgh, I hate you so much.'
Who is this man? What is his connection to (Y/n)? They are definitely related. This is (Y/n) we're talking about. She doesn't defend just anybody. She's hiding something. I need to find out more. She paced away from me angrily, mumbling to herself.
'It's not him. This isn't Tomo (Y/n)! This isn't Tomo! He would never be involved in this thing!' she mumbled to herself over and over again.
Tomo...so that's this guy's name, huh? I should check the database for more information on him. But I should do this behind (Y/n)'s back. I don't want her to get pissed at me, and this seems like a personal and sensitive topic. I know this is being nosy, but my incentive in this case. The case is more important than some personal issue. She says she's strong and doesn't know him, right? So it's ok.
(Y/n)'s POV
I walked into the bathroom. My body was shaking. I didn't know how to feel right now. I should be happy that I was right and Tomo wasn't dead...right? But he was involved in the case in a way. A murder and missing person's case. How could I look at Kazuha today? How do I tell him that his brother was alive, but he was involved in some criminal activity? It would destroy him. I can't see Kazuha that miserable again. Especially after he went through that phase once when we were kids. All because of Tomo. It was horrible seeing him like that...eyes dull, tears, lying about being fine, and refusing to eat, but the worst part was that Kazuha blamed himself for Tomo's disappearance.
"Maybe he left because caring for me was too much for him."
or
"He just never wanted me in the first place. So he left thinking that he'll be free from me."
I hated seeing him like that. It was the darkest part of our childhood, and I don't want him to go through that ever again. My eyes watered as I squeezed the sink's sides. I looked at myself in the mirror.
'M-Maybe he isn't the same Tomo? M-Maybe it's another person who looks like him.' I said with a desperate laugh of denial. 'A lot of people have violet eyes, right? A-and all of them tie their hair like that a-and have a scar over their nose. A lot of people look like that, right?'
I felt the tears slowly drip down my face. I shook my head, laughing desperately, and looked at my face in the mirror. I looked pathetic. The mask was off. The headstrong girl everyone sees is really just a scared girl who doesn't want to get hurt again.
'Who am I kidding...it is him.' I said with my voice wavering, 'That was Tomo.'
The scar...the eyes...everything was in Tomo's signature style. That guy had no fashion sense what so ever. He always dressed up in the most goofy clothes you could find. I remember how he got that crescent shaped scar. It was like a part of him and his personality.
***Flashback***
I dont remember exactly how old we were when Tomo earned his scar...I think Kazuha and I were 10. Tomo, Kazuha, and I had decided to go on a hike. Tomo called it a "Bonding journey."
Another thing Tomo was known for was his amazing ability to be the clumsiest person ever. Tomo had tripped over at least five rocks at this point. Kazuha and I felt like we were his chaperones and not the other way around.
'Tomo! Watch out for that tree!' I yelled
'Oh c'mon (n/n). I'm not that clumsy!' he said as he ducked under
He was walking backward.
'Tomo, you're going to collide with a tree sooner or later!' Kazuha said
He laughed at us
'Ha! You two worry too much! I'll be completely f-' he said, only to be stopped mid sentence.
Because you guessed it...he crashed into a tree. Kazuha and I simultaneously covered each other' ears as Tomo yelled every curse word to ever exist in Teyvat.
'FUCKING PIECE OF SHIT *BLEEP* *BLEEP**BLEEP**BLEEEEP*!'
We stared at him unamused as he lamented all the trees while cringing in pain. He cursed at all of nature while covering his face where he'd collided.
'You done?' I said
I looked at us surprised and quickly covered his mouth
'Don't worry. We didn't hear...much.' Kazuha said, mumbling the last part
'Oh g-FUCK IT'S BLEEDING!' he screamed
I facepalmed. So much for not hearing Tomo curse. We got a good look at his face finally and saw that it was bleeding pretty badly.
'Oh...OH MY ARCHONS!' we yelled, running to him
After a while, we took him to the nurse, and she told us he'd need stitches. Tomo whined the whole time.
'OW!'
The nurse looked at us in surprise when she noticed that Kazuha and I were completely unscathed.
'Oh, did he protect you two kids from something?' she asked us
'No, he crashed into a tree.' I said, 'And started crying.'
'Really loudly.' Kazuha chimed in
Tomo gave us a look of complete betrayal
'oh...' was the nurse's response
After a while, we decided to go home
'You're so mean to me sometimes (N/n).' Tomo said acting dramatically hurt
'I'm just honest.' I said, crossing my arms
'Does it look bad though?' he asked us
Tomo earned a large scar on his nose.
'It looks so scary!' Kazuha teased
'I know, right? It makes your face look mangled!'
'WAIT, IT DOES?!' he screamed
We laughed while Tomo looked betrayed.
***Flashback***
I know I shouldn't be in denial, but how could Tomo ever become...this?
