Kaveh's POV

I chuckled, watching the two leave. It was nice to see (Y/n) put herself out there. She's always been a naturally shy kid. I remembered the day I first met her. She was practically glued to Tomo. Shy was way too shy to socialize with me, but eventually, we started talking more normally until...I sighed a bit.

Until Tomo disappeared. (Y/n) and Kazuha took it pretty hard. After he disappeared, she kept herself in a small bubble of friends and didn't get attached to anyone. The only person she was close to was Kazuha. At least now, she's moving on and making new connections. To think it may be a romantic one too.

(Y/n)'s POV

I couldn't stop blushing. My cheeks were constantly warm, as I remembered last night. Ugh, why did I listen to that dumbass! I know Kaveh was trying to play a matchmaker. Looks like his plan kinda worked. Now that stupid detective refuses to leave my mind.

"I don't want to embarrass you, Princess. I'd never let anyone do that to my Princess."

I could still hear his voice say those words. I felt like gushing like a fucking High school girl. I slapped my cheeks.

'C'mon (Y/n), stop thinking about him. He's your colleague, and he was probably just teasing.'

I sighed, but at least he made my day a bit better. I needed that, especially when I saw Tomo there.

Heizou's POV

On the way home, my face was red. Two things were on my mind. One was the fact that she kissed me, and the other was that I pulled an uno reverse on her and kissed her. I mean...I'm not complaining about either, but I just can't stop thinking about her. I just hope nothing is awkward between us tomorrow. If I'm being honest...I love (Y/n)'s company even when she's being grumpy. Like Kaveh said...she's an adorable grumpy cat. Then my eyes landed on the letter, and they darkened. Pandora...some sort of dark organization preying on desperate young people with financial challenges. Tomo...Regina...who else were the poor souls who got into this. I sighed. This has gotten way more complicated than I'd ever expected it to be. It started out as a simple double murder, but now it's gotten into human experimentation.

The next I met up with (Y/n). Things were kind of awkward, but we tried not to think too much about it.

'So...yeah, let's not talk about last night.' I said

'Yeah.' she said, her cheeks a bit pink

'So uh, I got the stuff from Kaveh earlier for us to observe.' I said, and her face turned serious. 'So here's the box that Regina was supposed to receive before she disappeared.'

She nodded and opened the box. There were some questionable things. The worst, though, was a bunch of weapons and a file full of pictures.

'Hey, these pictures seem to defame her.' she pointed out.

I nodded. The pictures show small, petty thefts she did, such as shoplifting. Or her desperate attempts to do odd jobs in order to get some money. (Y/n) seemed heartbroken at seeing the pictures. On the back of the photos were messages.

"Do the job, or these get leaked. Your life will be in ruin. Try to evade capture, and you will be tortured. The choice is yours, Regina...do you really want to throw away your life? How would your sick mother react to such information? You don't want to join the Project, too, do you?"

(Y/n)'s eyes immediately darkened from anger and disgust.

'Emotional blackmail? Psychological blackmail? Defaming information? Let me find that asshole...I just wanna talk, and I'll make them wish they were never born.' she said with a death grip on the photos.

'(Y/n)...stay calm.' I said calmly

She gritted her teeth.

'Fine.'

We opened another file. It was of a young woman with a small note on the side.

"Donna Rivers...a renowned scientist working under Ill Dottore. She's been found guilty of feeding information about Project Calypso to some unwanted guests. Your job is to kill her and her little guests before the project becomes a project."

'Ill Dottore...that's the name of the doctor in charge of the experiments, right?' I spoke up

She nodded.

'I think this doctor guy blackmails innocent and desperate people to get what he wants, and if someone decides to rebel, he makes them disappear or worse, add them to Project Calypso.' (Y/n) stated

'Wait, this Donna girl...she was a part of another unsolved case.'

'Looks like Project Calypso plays a huge role here. It's been connected to so many cold unsolved cases. There are some places where they were supposed to be. One of them is a lab.'

'Let's break into the facility. We have the keycards anyways, so let's break in!'

'Whoa there, Princess! What do you mean by "break in"?'

'Well, we need to go into the facility, and we have keycards, so technically, we're not breaking in cause we're certified, right?'

'I-I mean, you put it like that...'

'Exactly! Now hurry up; we gotta dress up!' she said. 'By the way...this guy looks just like you. He looks dorky~.'

I rolled my eyes

'Ha ha, Princess. How original.' I said, 'Oh, this girl looks like you! A nerd...a pretty nerd, though~.'

She blushed a bit.

'I'm not cute!' she said, glaring a bit

'Oh yes, you're adorable~.'

She grumbled a few curses. She kept muttering how she wasn't cute. Oh, how wrong she was...she was beautiful and adorable. I chuckled to myself. There was no denying it at this point...I might be in love with her. I always thought I'd make her fall first, but oh, how wrong I was. She beat me to it. I'm in love with her and all the flaws she has. Her hotheadedness, her unladylike behavior at times, and her brave and assertive lifestyle. My smile faded a bit as I wore my reading glasses. The chances of us being together are minimal. Not just because of the no inter colleagues dating rule. She has to love me back, too, in the first place. I let out a weak chuckle. Maybe in some other universe, I'd be lucky enough to call her mine. Maybe in another universe, we'd be together, and I wouldn't have to lie.
