"CAMERON!"
"ALIYAH!"
"NYLA!"
I wake in the morning to the sound of my mum shouting out mine and my younger brother and sisters names trying to wake us to get ready for  school. I open my eyes and begin to listen to the rain hitting the roof of my room and can hear the gutter overflowing making the sound of the water splatter louder. It must have been raining heavily all night. While wrapped up tight in my blue fleece blanket I feel my dog laying against my back stopping me from being able to move. I roll to the left as I reach onto my beside table to grab my phone and check the time "7:32" we slept in.
"Not again." I whisper under my breath as I rush to get up hearing my dog jump down after to follow me as I walk to my cupboard and slide it open. We had done the exact same thing last year but wasn't surprised that it happened again. I begin to undress myself which is freezing cold on my bare back and immediately slip on my favourite black lace shirt and a pair of my many skinny jeans.
I rush over to my plain white vanity to pick up my hair brush and begin to brush through my messy chestnut brown hair which is always a challenge in the mornings. As I stand there I tilt my head down to part my hair exactly in the middle then start to comb out the knots which my brush can barely even get through but it eventually does.
I look into the mirror at my eyes which have dark circles underneath them from staying up late again last night as I always did. I begin to dab concealer under them then gently rub it in. Finally I smear liquid foundation over the rest of my face to cover the redness then lean closer into the mirror to see my finish work. It's not perfect but it's best I could do I never had anyone to teach me my mum was never a makeup person and I sadly never had an older sister.
I reach for my backpack which I prepackaged last night with all my books and equipment and rush down stairs into the lounge room. Where I see my Mum is waiting for me and watching the news.
"Good morning." I say with a fake smile on my face not wanting my mum to see how much I hated going back to school.
"Look who's finally up," my Mum says sarcastically to herself turning towards me. "We need to leave soon or we'll be late so make sure you have something to eat."
I wander into the kitchen and see Cameron and Nyla sitting at the table eating their cereal. With Cameron crunching it extremely loudly so that I could hear every bite which builds up inside of me and I find myself shouting.
"Can you eat quieter?"
I watch him stare up at me in shock for a few seconds then casually go back to eating his breakfast the exact same way he had before completely ignoring me. I let out a loud sigh and grab a small packet of school chips from the cupboard it's not the best breakfast but it's something to last me until morning tea.
"Are you three ready to go?" I hear Mum say.
"Yes." I reply and the three of us all begin to head towards the front door as Mum grabs her keys from the coffee table. I sigh as I close the door behind everyone and watch as they climb into the car. Time to begin another year.
