I arrived at the hospital and raced down the hall to Aliyah's room where her Mum and Dad were patiently seated.
"How is she?"
Aliyah's Mum spoke up.
"She's still asleep the doctors don't know when she'll wake up."
"Did they say anything else?"
"No just that she's stable."
"Where are Nyla and Cameron?"
"They've been at my Mums house since last night she picked them up from school."
"How come?"
"I didn't want them to see Aliyah like this they wouldn't be able to handle it."
"Yeah I know how much they love her."
Aliyah's Mum began to search the room.
"Where are the babies?"
"My Mums watching them."
She turned to me with a shocked look on her face.
"Your Mum? I thought you's too weren't talking after you moved out."
"We weren't but I thought I'd give her a chance."
"Was that a good idea?"
"I'm not sure, but It was good to see her again even after what she tried to do I still want her to know the twins."
"Ok."
"Everyone deserves a second chance."
"That's true."
I walked over to Aliyah to see her beautiful face bashed and bruised and whispered to her.
"I just hope you can forgive me too for everything I've done."
I knelt down beside Aliyah's bed and watched her sleep. It was hard seeing her like this I just wanted her to wake up and hug me so I could tell her that everything is going to be alright but now I wasn't too sure. I promised her that I would protect her and keep her safe and now because of me she's laying here bashed and bruised.
I knew I needed to tell her about what happened with Lexi and I last night and even though I could loose her because of it I loved her and couldn't lie to her or keep secrets. That wasn't what was on my mind at the moment though all I cared about was praying that she would wake up and come home. I need her and so do the twins we can't loose her she doesn't deserve this. Moments later as I sat by Aliyah's side her Dad came up to me. I stood up and followed him over to the other side of the room.
"What's this about?"
"Caitlyn."
"Caitlyn? I don't want anything to do with her."
"She's in custody down at the station."
"How? There was no evidence to say she did anything."
"Your school had cameras and caught everything on tape."
"Even.."
I looked to Aliyah.
"Yeah."
"Are they going to charge her?"
"Most likely."
"Will she be sent to jail?"
"No it's her first offence she'll most likely just get fined."
"That's a load of crap."
"Nate."
"She should be sent to prison for what she did Aliyah's laying here unable to breath on her own and she's just going to be allowed to walk free."
"We can't control the law, we can only follow it."
"The law is stupid then."
"Nate trust me I'd love to see her rot in prison just as much as you."
"But?"
"But this is the best we can do and we can only hope that she won't try anything like this again otherwise that's exactly where she'll end up."
"Thank you."
"What for?"
"For telling me."
"No problem."
