All The Love He Does Not Know

Chapter 23: Aliyah

I was sitting in the lounge room watching Tv when I heard a knock on the door. I held my stomach and lifted myself up and headed to the door where I looked through the window to see Nate standing outside and I froze not knowing what to do. He knocked again and then placed his hands either side of his eyes and peered through the window.
"Aliyah I can see you please let me in I haven't heard from you all holidays."
"No I can't."
"Why not? what's wrong?"
"Nothing."
"Can I come in so we can talk why have you been ignoring my calls?"
"We're talking already through the door."
"I wanna see you not a door."
"I'm sorry I just can't let you in."
I looked down at my bulging stomach almost 20 weeks I was huge already Nate would know straight away if he saw me there was no hiding it now he couldn't be let in. The door knob turned opening slightly and I began to push on it to keep it closed. Why hadn't it been locked?
"Whatever's up I won't care."
"No Nate please stop just let me close the door."
Nate pushed the door harder and I stepped back knowing that this could end bad if I kept fighting against the door. He stepped through the door and I immediately spun around folding my arms over my stomach which didn't hide anything.
"Aliyah?"
"You shouldn't have come."
"I wanted to see you why are you being like this?"
He walked closer to me and placed his hand on my shoulder as a turned back towards him in tears and I watched his eyes suddenly drop at the sight of my stomach as he starred in shock not saying a word.
"I'm sorry I didn't tell you."

Nate closed the door and began to lean against it placing his hand over his head.
"Your pregnant?"
"Yes isn't it quite obvious now."
He pointed to my stomach stuttering words as he did in sure of what to say.
"Is it.. the.... Is it mine?"
"Yes.. They are."
"There's two?"
"Twins."
"Oh, ok."
I could see the look on Nate's face that he was upset shocked how could he not be what other reaction had I been expecting?
"Nate I know it's hard to get your head around, and that I should have told you sooner but I didn't know how to tell you or what your reaction would be."
"You didn't have to be scared."
"I know I just didn't want you to hate me."
"Why would I hate you?"
"I don't know I just thought you'd be mad."
"I'm not it's not your fault it takes two people for this to happen, I'm the one who should be hated."
"What about Caitlyn though? What's she gonna think?"
"I broke up with her weeks ago during the holidays we weren't right for each other."
"What?"
"I should never have gotten back together with her, so you don't need to worry about her she's gone now."
"Oh."
"Yeah but I'm glad about it."
"Thank you for not running out."
"I would never do that."
"I know."
"So what are we gonna do about the little ones?"
I smiled to break the awkwardness.
"First of all they're not so little now and I think I want to keep them."
"Are you sure?"
"All babies are a gift they're not given to us to abandon."
"I never thought of it like that."
"You don't have to be involved if you don't want to though it's up to you."
"No I wanna help you as much as I can I wanna be there for you."
"Really."
"Yep I'm here to help."
"Even after I broke up with you?"
"I understand why you did it but there's no point holding onto the past."
I leant in and kissed Nate on the cheek.
"Good because I don't want to loose you again."
