Chapter 36: Aliyah

The twins screamed and cried as I laid them down on their play mat in the lounge room. I walked into the kitchen where my mum was leaning over the stove top preparing dinner.
"What's for dinner?"
"Spaghetti."
"Ooh yum."
I heard the babies cried even louder as I walked over to the fridge.
"Do you need any help?"
I grabbed two bottles from the fridge and turned back to my mum as I heated them up.
"No it's ok I think I've got it."
"Are you sure I don't mind helping."
"Your watching them while I'm at school I think that's enough help I don't want you to have to give up more of your time."
"Ok if your sure."
"Yes thanks though."
"No problem sweetie."
I walked back into the lounge room and fed them each their bottles as I rocked them until they both were finally fell asleep. I sat down beside them staring at how precious they looked together side by side. Minutes passed and I looked down to see Luna squirming and wiping her eyes with her hands. I picked her up before she could start to cry and began to rock her back to sleep so that she didn't wake Reed up.
"Don't cry baby mummy is here, and daddy should be home from work soon."
She let out a small cry as I stood up and began to pace around the room.
"Try stroking her head it always worked for you when you were a baby."
I softly stroked her thin blonde hair and she settled down instantly.
"I should have known that I'm a bad mother aren't I?"
"No you just need to learn you'll be a great mother you already are I can tell."
I stood up rocking Luna in my arms as I heard the door screech open and Nate walked in. He came into the lounge room and kissed me on the cheek as he stroked Luna's hair being careful not to wake her.
"How was work?"
"Exhausting I'm looking forward to going to bed for once."
"Same, but we have to eat first my mum made dinner for everyone."
"Yum we will have strength for our big day tomorrow."
"I don't want to think about it."
"Are you ok?"
"Yeah I'm just worried about tomorrow."
"How come? It's just school nothing new."
"But I'm new I have two babies and the last time everyone saw me I was huge and was being secretly judged by them all I could tell."
"Nobody was judging you they were probably all jealous."
"Now you know that's a lie it's high school everyone has their opinion and it's not usually good most of the time."
"Everything will be ok I promise you'll have Lexi and I with you."
"Your right."
"Anyway we need to enjoy high school it won't last forever and think we get the day to ourselves."
"I know,"
I looked down at Reed and then back at Luna in my arms.
"Still not sure how I'll cope with leaving them for the first time."
"They'll be safe."
"But I'll miss them too much."
