She hated him. She hated him more than she ever thought possible. He was a kook- her natural born enemy.
He didn't hate her at all. Not one bit. It couldn't have been farther from the truth. Did she know that? No- and she never would.

A smile remained constant on Kori's lips as she sat at the counter listening to her friends. Only the Pogues would be talking themselves up after losing to Rafe, Topper, and Kelce. A warm plate with a freshly made grilled cheese was slid in front of her, causing her gaze to shift to the benefactor.
Kori locked onto Heyward's eyes, her smile only growing. "Thank you."
He flipped a grimy towel onto his shoulder, sending her a smile back. "Don't thank; eat— before it gets cold."
"Yes, sir." She responded, picking it up and taking a bite.
"Where's mine?" JJ spoke up.
"Hell no." Heyward acknowledged, turning to him. "You'll get yours when you finish cleaning that stain."
"But I didn't mean to spill—"
"Oh, yes you did, boy." He interjected, raising his brow at him. "Clean. Now."
JJ groaned and jumped off the counter he'd been sitting on as Pope tilted his head. "Come on, Pops. Don't tell me she's still your favorite."
Kori picked up one of the fries on her plate and threw it at him, the delicacy hitting him directly in the eye. "I'll say whatever I damn want to." Heyward voiced, rubbing his palms on the front of his shirt. "Now help JJ. I want that done right."
The blonde simply smirked, a smug expression stuck to her face as Heyward exited through the front door. Pope gave her a look as JJ came up next to him— neither one of them doing what they'd been told.
"I'm just saying—" Kori paused, raising her brow. "You wouldn't look like that if Logan hadn't distracted me."
"Oh, so you're saying you would've been the reason they won the fight?" Kie asked, leaning forward to meet her eyes.
"That's bull and you know it." Pope interjected. "We were doomed from the start."
"Don't let it get to your head, bro." JJ voiced, shaking his head as he recalled the previous night's events. "There were three of them and two of us. That's some typical Kook shit right there."
"Hell, yeah." Kie agreed.
"What was your thought process with using your head?"
"I still can't believe you did that." Kori expressed, taking another bite of her sandwich.
"I don't know, man. I just kind of acted off instinct, all right? I was a cornered animal." Pope explained.
"Hey, Pope!" The three of them turned to the doorway— Heyward reentering the shop. "There's someone here to see you."
Kori's eyes went round at the sight of Shoupe, a paper gripped between his fingertips. "Evening, officer." Pope said.
Shoupe took a step forward as Kori stood from her chair. "I have an arrest warrant for felony destruction of property."
