Kori tilted her head in disbelief as she sat next to Pope and JJ on the couch. Since being one wrong angle away from death, John B had moved in with the Cameron's, they'd found out that the gold was under an ax murderer's house, and Princess Sarah Cameron was currently sitting adjacent to her on the couch at the chateau.
And he'd fallen less than fifteen hours ago.
The blonde's face contorted as all of that raced through her mind. This was ridiculous. She was not letting Sarah Cameron be the reason they were dead in the water. It wasn't fair. Kori would always, always have Kiara's back— no matter what.
"Look, cut the bullshit, John B." Kie voiced, locking onto his gaze. "If she's in, I'm out."
John B let out a breath. "Kie, I'm not doing—"
"You are gonna do it!"
"I can't!" He exclaimed.
"I'm very interested, actually." Kie mused. "Me or her?"
"Both."
Kori scoffed at the same time JJ whistled and Pope let out a breath. "Wow."
"Went for the Hail Mary." JJ murmured.
"Noooo!" Pope echoed.
Without another word, Kie walked off the patio, slamming the screen door behind herself.
"It'll be cool, right?" Sarah restated, glancing at John B. She stood up, lips pursed. "I'm gonna leave. I'm gonna let y'all chat. Let me know."
Then, she too was gone.
John B pressed the back of his head into the wall and closed his eyes. Kori exhaled, clasping her hands together. "You are such a dumbass." She stated, shaking her head.
JJ stood, acknowledging her comment. "Well, I for one, thought you handled that beautifully."
"You are, too." Kori continued, lifting her head.
Her brother nodded his head in an irritated manner as Pope stood next. "I'll go talk to her." He said and trotted down the steps.
Kori turned back to John B, eyes wide. "Are you seriously considering risking everything for Sarah Cameron— who you've known for a total of three days?"
