〰⋅〰⋅〰Kori pulled on a beige halter tank top, buttoning her black shorts up as another ding sounded through the air. She glanced at the cracked door, head shaking at the bell. John B had woken her up, noise echoing through the air for the past twenty minutes. She grabbed her combat boots and exited her room, walking through the house until she reached the front door.
Stepping onto the porch, she found JJ having sat up, Logan sitting in the chair across from him— both looking exhausted and annoyed. John B had also found his way onto the porch, glancing at her as she sat down next to her brother, beginning to put her shoes on.
"It's something about the dude's face, you know?" John B voiced, rolling towards them on his skateboard. He stepped off, directly turning to the two siblings in front of him. "Like, the whole 'No hard feelings, bro.' You know what I'm saying?"
"Totally. 'No hard feelings.'" JJ repeated, head shaking. "It's kind of hard not to have hard feelings about that."
"I, for one," Kori piped up, lifting her gaze from her boots. "Am pretty damn glad you punched him. He had it coming. I mean, I've been wanting to punch him since the summer movie series."
"It's just that...that look." John B continued, raising his foot to place it on the table in front of Logan. "That Kook look, you know?" His gaze momentarily shifted to the brunette on his left. "No offense. I mean, not that you're a Kook anymore. It's just—"
"That Kook look. I get it." Logan interjected, head nodding before he could totally shit himself.
"Yeah, no. It was clear 'provucation.'" JJ echoed.
"Provocation." Logan and John B said in unison.
"Yeah, I'm all you, JB. You had every right." Kori said, shrugging her shoulders as she finished tying her boots.
"Thank you." He responded, turning to walk inside. "Anyway, we need to figure out a plan to get to South America, like, yesterday."
The three of them followed him to the door, JJ choosing to speak next. "Yeah, for sure. You got any food real quick?"
"So I was thinking passports. We don't have those. Therefore, we can't fly commercial."
Kori smirked, head gesturing to Logan. "Unless you're him. He definitely has a passport. He spent his last birthday in Thailand."
He glared at her. "Oh, you want me to fly down to Orinoco by myself? Rescue Big John on my own? Got it. See you guys later." He quipped, head shaking incredulously at her. A breath fell from his lips as he turned to John B, eyes shifting down as he opened the fridge. "We need another plan."
"What about that money you took from Portis?" JJ suggested.
"I gave that to my dad." John B admitted, lifting a burrito up to smell it— he gagged.
"Okay, what about a boat? HMS isn't getting down there, but..." Kori trailed off, zero ideas coming to mind. "But we have no other boat. Okay. Um, shit."
"So what you're saying is," JJ paused, taking a bite of the burrito. "We don't got any money, and we also don't have a boat that can make it to South America. Great."
Logan exhaled, hand coming up to scratch the back of his head. "What do we do?"
"Actually, I might know a guy."
"Uh-oh." John B deadpanned.
Kori turned to him just as he dropped into a crouched position. Before she even knew what was happening, John B was tugging her and JJ down next to him. Logan naturally followed.
