Pissed off was one way to describe Kori on this spectacular, sunny morning. Not only did she feel incredibly nauseous from being high less than eight hours ago, but she also had to go to school.
Plus, her and Logan had almost kissed last night.
That made her even angrier than the fact that she had to be alone. But the thing that pissed her off more than anything else in the damn world was that she was so high last night that she wouldn't have pulled away. Her sobriety had been so far in the ground that they would've kissed if he hadn't leaned back.
That made her angrier than she ever thought possible. Well, except for when she slammed a gun into Rafe's face. She'd been pretty angry then too.
Kori let out a breath and stepped down onto the grass below. The five minute bell rang just as her door came slamming shut. Kie had picked them up this morning, true to her word, but they hadn't said a word to each other. No one had. They didn't particularly want to do this without their best friend by their side.
Her eyes were pinned on the stupid school, dread filling her stomach. She glanced down, letting her eyes trail over the black crop top and oversized flannel hanging on her body, then down to her grimy, gray converse. Here goes nothing.
"Hey, chill out."
Kori turned to Kie, following her gaze to her brother. JJ was lifting a flask up to his lips, gulping down the alcohol inside. It was only 7:40 in the morning.
"If I black out, just don't remind me." He responded, throwing it down onto the seat and shutting his door.
"That's not funny." Kie said, shouldering her backpack. Her eyes scanned the various teenagers, their murmurs floating back to her. "I feel like people are staring at us."
"Oh yeah." JJ voiced, turning back to see them.
"Guys, I can't be late." Pope mumbled, taking a step forward.
"Hey. Hey, we gotta stick together." Kiara held her hand out to him as JJ brushed past them.
"Stick together. Yeah."
Kie simply grabbed hold of his arm, forcing him to stay next to her. Kori, on the other hand, was not in the mood for bullshit hope. She walked forward, avoiding all three of them and pushed through the front doors.
"Hey! Kor, wait." Kie called out.
The blonde turned back around, reluctantly meeting her gaze. "I'll see you guys at lunch."
She turned to leave again, but her wrist was gently being caught by Pope. "You're gonna be okay, right?"
"Yeah." Kori nodded her head. "I'll be fine, Pope."
