She hated him. She hated him more than she ever thought possible. He was a kook- her natural born enemy.
He didn't hate her at all. Not one bit. It couldn't have been farther from the truth. Did she know that? No- and she never would.

Kori let out a breath, rolling her eyes at Ms. Hill. If she'd been facing the blonde, surely Kori would've gotten detention already. But since the irritating, old woman was writing yet another problem on the chalkboard, she was in the clear. For now.
They were also working in partners today for their exit ticket, which was just great news. If she had a partner, they could do the work, and she could keep daydreaming. It was a perfect system really.
"All right. Go ahead and find a partner. You have five minutes." Ms. Hill announced before walking back to her desk at the back of the classroom.
Without another thought, Kori halfheartedly dropped her gaze back down to the doodles filling the pages of her notebook. Her gaze narrowed, though, as the vacant seat next to her was taken. She lifted her head, locking onto a pair of light eyes and a flirty smile.
"I'm assuming you don't have a partner." Jayden voiced.
Kori raised her brow. "Well, actually—"
"I already finished it."
"I don't." Kori responded, a smile lifting her lips. "Yeah, no. No partner."
Jayden let out a laugh. "I knew you'd say something like that."
Kori's brow came together. "And why's that? Am I just that predictable?"
"No, but your notebook is." Jayden admitted, pointing to her sketches with his pencil.
"What can I say? I hate math." Kori shrugged her shoulders as her phone buzzed on her desk. She picked it up, turning it over to see one new text message.
POPE: Meet us in the library as soon as the bell rings. BIG NEWS.
"Is something wrong?" Jayden asked, pulling her from her thoughts.
Kori set her phone back down, shaking her head. "No. Nothing's wrong. I just have needy friends."
"Well..." Jayden paused, leaning closer. "Why don't you hand me your phone and you can have one less needy number in your contacts."
Kori grinned, letting out a laugh. "That was cute. How long you been workin' on that one?"
"To be honest, all of class. I've been working up the courage to say it." Jayden confessed.
She shook her head, a smile still stuck on her face. "And why would I want your number in my phone?"
Jayden knew who he was talking to and he knew exactly what angle to play. He'd liked her ever since the end of last year, which meant he'd caught onto a few things. "In case you ever want the homework."
Upon hearing that particular comment, Kori picked up her phone and handed it to him. "That's a good point."
"I'm just gonna send myself a text real quick..." Jayden paused, typing in a message before handing it back to her. "And done."
