Kori got to her feet and took the remaining steps to the cross. It had fallen upside down, the bottom portion sticking up in the air. Despite that, it was absolutely beautiful. It was pure gold, plated with diamonds and rubies in the center of it. And there was no mistaking that it was worth a fortune.

"Pope, she's...she's beautiful." JJ confessed, hands caressing the top of it.

Kori gave him a look, brow raising. "Careful there, Papa J. You might just turn her on."

JJ's face dropped, middle finger lifting at her.

She raised hers right back, mirroring him— just with a smirk.

John B bent down, pointer finger grazing the lock on the front of it. "Well, here's why Limbrey wanted that key so bad."

JJ began talking about melting it down, causing John B to explode at him. And it only turned into an argument from there, Kori's eyes rolling into the back of her head as a result. They weren't gonna melt it down. There was no way they could do that. But JJ was right in the sense that it was worth billions and billions of—

"Hey!" Pope shouted, forcing their attention back to him. "It's my ancestors' cross!"

"Right, okay. All right. All right." JJ responded, nodding his head.

"This is bigger than money, and the world's gotta know the truth."

"Yes. And if we don't get this shit outta here before Limbrey gets here, nobody's gonna know. So saddle up." John B ordered.

Kori let out a breath, moving over to the bottom of the cross with Kie and Sarah as John B was at the top and JJ was squatting down. To say that the cross was heavy would be an understatement. Like majorly. She grimaced as the six of them attempted to lift it, more groans and grunts spilling from the groups' mouths.

"John B— lift!" Kori shouted, barely holding onto the relic.

"I AM!" He yelled, stumbling backwards with the entire bottom half of the cross.

"Who's—Who's not lifting right now? Sarah—"

JJ was cut off as the blonde whipped to him. "I am lifting!"

"It doesn't feel like it."

"Move forward!" Kie pleaded.

Multiple pained grunts sounded from Kori's right, forcing her gaze to shift to Pope. He was lifting opposite of Sarah and adjacent to her. "Okay, guys. I can't. I can't."

"POPE—"

Kori was cut off by more objections from the rest of the group. "No! No, no, no."

"No, no! Pope, hang on!"
