Sunlight blared through the windshield, hitting Kori directly in the face. She could've complained at how it was blinding her, but she honestly didn't mind. Truthfully, she loved the warmth that emitted from it. She loved the way the wind worked against her hand as it hung out the open window of her boyfriend's Camaro. She loved the soft summery music that spilled out of the stereo as they drove. She just loved everything about today and she didn't even know why.

Logan took the next turn, pulling them further and further away from the cut. With every mile they drove, they were that much closer to figure eight. He briefly averted his gaze from the road to look at Kori as she began to sing along to the beat of the song, voice a mere murmur with every word.

I know I'll fall in love with you, baby, and that's not what I wanna do. I hope you won't ever lie to me and if you do, I know I won't be your cry baby–

Even if the chorus hadn't ended, it wouldn't have mattered. The Neighbourhood was drowned out as Logan's fingers spun the dial counterclockwise, the volume dramatically decreasing inside of the vehicle. As he dropped his hand, Kori glanced over at him.

"It's not a bad idea." She confessed, shoulders lightly raising. "I mean, it's pretty gutsy–I'll give you that–but it could work."

"Yeah..." He trailed off. "It's not like things could get any worse if it doesn't though."

Kori instinctively grabbed his hand. "It'll work."

Logan glanced at her with a smile as they rolled to a stop, parking across the street from their destination. "Thanks. For having my back." He clarified, head nodding. "It means a lot."

She just smiled. "Well, I know how much this means to you. Of course I'll have your back."

Logan kept his eyes on her. She was everything to him. Why in the world would she have taken a risk on him– of all people? It was an anomaly he encountered every single day. But it didn't matter. He had her and that was the only thing he cared about.

Kori's gaze suddenly snapped to the right, brow furrowing together. "Wait, is that her?"

He turned around in his seat, focus coming to the Audi that was currently in the process of pulling out of the garage. "Yeah. Yeah, that's her." He tilted his head. "Right on time."

As the Audi backed out onto the road before accelerating forward, Kori's attention returned to Logan. Her gaze softened at the nervous expression creeping onto his face. "I'll be right here if you need anything. If it goes south, just come back out."

There was a beat.

"I'll be your getaway driver."

Logan locked onto her cocky green eyes, head shaking at her. "No. If it goes south, I'll be the one getting us the hell out of here. I'm banking on making it to eighteen."

"Fine." Kori remarked, eyes closing as she rested her head back against her seat. "I'll just be waiting here then."

Logan just shook his head as he stepped out of the vehicle and closed his door. His gaze was pinned on the massive home set before him, nerves beginning to course through his body. He had no clue how this was about to go down, just that it could go down. That wasn't up to him though.

No, that was up to Davy Reynolds.

Without another thought, he walked up to the front door and knocked. Hesitating or thinking about it only would've made him question his decision that much more. It only took a few moments, though, before the door was opening and the person he had come to see was pulling her focus from her phone to look at him.
