It was finally the day before the ball, the two groups were constantly going over the plans for tomorrow. When Sol was sitting in her work room with Kai, she asked how he was doing.
"How are you feeling about seeing your old family tomorrow?" Sol was delivering pieces of jewelry after Kai spelled the ordered items.
"Still deciding if I want them to live suffering, knowing I'm free, or just kill them. Are you excited to kill the old witch?" Kai never bothered to look up from his work to see the young witch.
"Excited? No. Nervous? Yeah, probably. Guilty? Very much so. Even with all things considered, she is their mother. She gave birth to them, raised them, loved and cared for them..."
"Until she didn't," Kai pointed out. It was clear to him, and Sol had said as much before, that Esther was no longer their mother. The old witch wanted to kill them; real mother's don't want to kill their children.
Groaning, she dropped her head onto her arms that rested on the table. Deep down she knew he was right, and that the Mikaelson's may not feel as bad as she does. However, she couldn't help but worry. She was asking them to kill their mother. Something that she had done once upon a time, and it still bothered her sometimes. Knowing that she was the one who took away her parents from herself, it hurt more than she'd like to admit. Despite the way her mother had treated her, Sol had never wished for her death. She supposed her biggest worry was that they would regret their actions against Esther and come to resent her as a result.
"Let's move on," the female siphon lifted her head. "You and Bekah planned the whole ball. How did that go?" An impish smirk covering her lips as she asked.
"Obviously it went well. There were only a few occasions we had trouble agreeing on what to choose. Stop trying to dig," his eyes narrowed at Sol. "Our relationship isn't just going to be like yours is with the brothers. We're taking our time." Kai needed the time to rediscover all the emotions he'd been feeling since staying with the Mikaelsons. Rebekah had also decided she didn't want to dive straight into a relationship. She'd wanted to experience and enjoy every step that they took before getting into a serious relationship; she'd wanted this one to last, memories of her previous lovers betrayals always creeping into her mind.
A dramatic sigh escaped Sol's lips as she moved to continue delivering her jewelry. Looking down at the new piece of jewelry, she thought of Rose. She'd never met the woman, but she did enjoy her brief appearance in the show. Trevor wasn't one she'd gotten attached to, having been soft on Katerina, but she felt sad for Rose who lost a close friend. Rose, who died from a werewolf bite before they knew of a cure. Her death scene was probably one of the few where she genuinely liked Damon as a character.
Her brain moved over to Slater, who would also be dead already. She truly believed they had deserved better, but she had been too afraid to get involved. Could she had even saved them if she did involve herself from the beginning? Would they just be another death on her mind like her parents' were? Perhaps, if she had been involved from the beginning, the Scooby gang would trust her more? If she befriended them first, how would that have affected her relationship with the Mikaelsons? With Kai? Knowing she was friends with their enemy, would they have taken to her as early as they had? Would Kol be as sweet as he is? Klaus as trusting as he is? Finn and Elijah as open as they've become? Rebekah as more relaxed as she is now?
There were so many what if's flying around her head. So many questions she could never have answers to, but it didn't matter. She'd chosen her path, and her family. Solène loved her family and she wouldn't trade them for anything. She believed in them as they believed in her. They'd never questioned whether or not she was truly from another world. With the information she'd provided, and shown Niklaus, they chose to believe her with no question.
Now, they were trusting her with their lives as they allowed their mother to come back to be properly dealt with. Solène was terrified of this failure. If she'd lost any one of her daily members, she couldn't be sure what would happen. It would feel as if the world had stopped turning, like it was ending. The mere thought had her distraught; she had to push those thoughts away and focus on her work.
Elijah entered the room not longer after. He was carrying a large box, which he placed on an empty table. It was her first delivery of jewelry, he explained before placing a kiss on her forehead. He could feel the nerves and anxiety radiating off of her.
Scooping her up, the woman let out a surprised squeak. Wrapping her arms around him, she let herself relax in his hold. Elijah sat them on her bed, keeping her in his lap. "Are you still worried about tomorrow?"
"What if everything goes wrong? No plan ever works if those teens are involved. I know so much about this world, but I feel so useless." Tears started to prick the siphons eyes, prompting her to hide her face in Elijah's dress shirt.
"Everything will be fine, my love. We'll succeed no matter what it takes... and once it's all over, we can all live happily without worries. Just one more day and it'll just be us in this mansion. No frustrating teens, baby vampires, no old witches trying to kill us. Just you, me and my siblings, and Kai. How does that sound?"
Sol shifted, moving to straddle the man's lap. Placing her hands on his cheeks as a tear finally escaped her eyes, she smiled. "It sounds like everything I've ever dreamed of." The vampire smiled as he wiped away her tear, placing his forehead against hers.
"Maybe once this is all over, you'll stay with us, not just for your safety, but to continue being with us." Sol looked at Elijah, his eyes closed as their foreheads rested against each other.
"Are you asking me to move in, Elijah Mikaelson?" A smile pulled at his lips, hearing his soulmates playful tone.
"I am, very much so. Move in with us," he spoke, hands wrapping around her torso to pull her in closer.
"That sounds like a very tempting proposition, Mr. Mikaelson. Perhaps you could tell me the advantages to agreeing to this."
His eyes opened, meeting his soulmates gaze, and they shown with a playful glint they didn't typically have. This was something he could best accomplish with Sol, the love of his life. "Well, if you moved in," he moved his lips closer to hers, "we can do as you please whenever you like." Teasingly, he gently brushed his lips against hers. Sol hummed, very happy he was playing along.
"Perhaps you could demonstrate? Just so I know what I'm signing up for."
"As you wish," Elijah muttered quickly before he finally pressed his lips into hers, groaning at the feeling of her against him. Solène was quick to reciprocate, thumb moving across his jaw before moving back into his hair. She hummed once more, loving that Elijah had hair long enough for her to grip.
Elijah's hands traveled down to her hips, pulling her further into him. Sol's back arched in response as she moaned into his lips. She found her hands tugging at his jacket, wanting to feel more of him. To feel all of him. His jacket made it over his shoulders before there was a knock on the door. She whined, but continued to kiss Elijah.
Another knock before the door cracked open an inch. "Lunch is ready, my love. Do finish up with Elijah before it gets cold." Solène nearly growled; she could hear the smirk on Nik's lips. She was glad they weren't fighting over her, or discouraging her more intimate actions with the others. However, they seemed a little too casual about it. Rebekah was the only one who seemed normal, gagging whenever she spotted one of her brothers being more affectionate with her. Perhaps this was normal to them? Solène started to wonder if they had perhaps... shared a lover before.
