A week passed since Maya had moved into the mansion. She'd grown comfortable enough to sleep in a room designated for her, along with her stuffed lamb. She was back in school, too. Sol had dropped her off this morning before returning home to finish up her spell. With Esther's magical knowledge, had completed the spell with little complication. She'd even managed to increase it's duration and quality.
She nearly skipped down the steps as she called out for a family meeting. Plopping onto a chair across from the couch, she patiently waited for everyone to arrive. It only took a few moments for everyone to file in and fill the seats across from her. Sol was so excited her legs were bouncing as she waited for everyone to settle in.
As soon as Kai was sat next to Rebekah, Sol chirped, "I did it!" Presenting her notebook, the family looked at her with confusion.
"What exactly did you do?" The female vampire asked first.
"Did you finish your research?" Kol guessed.
Shaking her head, Sol clarified. "I finished my research a while ago, thanks to Caroline and Damon. I figured out how the magic travels through the vampire body. Sine vampires are technically dead, but magic - and blood - keep your body functioning like normal humans. However, balance was kept by removing the ability to procreate..." she trailed off, letting them pick up on what she was speaking about.
Rebekah gasped. "You did it? You actually figured out a way for vampires to have children?"
"You bet your cute ass I did!" Sol bounced in her spot. "I did lots of research on the human reproductive organs and how infertility occurs. Then, I had to make sure that the womb would also work throughout the pregnancy, for female vampires. Biologically, it should be fine. With Damon and Caroline's aid, I was able to determine how magic blocked the reproductive systems. From there, I just had to figure out how to remove the block."
The Mikaelson's could barely hear her anymore, processing the fact they could have children, save Niklaus who had already learned it previously. They had all resigned themselves to the fact they only Niklaus could give their soulmate a child. Now, Solène was telling them that they all could do so; all of them could have their own children.
Kai was listening, proud that his little student had managed to pull off such a large feat. Although the old witch's knowledge was helpful, it was still Sol who put all the pieces together. His focus was broken when he saw Rebekah crying. "Hey," his voice was soft. "Isn't this a good thing? Why're you crying?" A finger brushed away her fallen tear before cupping her cheek.
"A thousand years I believed it impossible for me to bear my own children. A thousand years I yearned for something that could never happen, and now it's real. It's a possibility."
Silently, Sol slid a piece of paper over to Kai. He looked over the paper, not taking his hand away from Rebekah. When he looked up to the other witch, she finally spoke. "It's a copy for you two. Use it whenever you'd like. I know I'm a bit nosy when it comes to you two, I'm happy you two have grown a lot closer recently. The copy lets you use the spell at your discretion, without anyone else butting in. Everything should be laid out there for you, but I'm around if you have questions."
The pair nodding, Rebekah moving to squeeze Sol into a hug. "You deserve the world, Beks. I'm just doing my part." The older woman thanked her, squeezing once before finally letting her go. The couple took their cue to leave, allowing Solène to discuss her plans with the brothers.
"How exactly does this work, darling?" Kol leaned forward, elbows resting on his knees.
"Simply put, I'll put walls up on either side of the reproductive organs before removing the magic blocking them from functioning as they normally would. The spell isn't a permanent fix, which is why I tweaked it to also up the fertility. It can always be redone, however. No need to worry about that."
"Then I guess the important questions is," Nik's eyes jumped around his brothers. "Who goes first?" Realizing the implication of his words, he quickly looked to Solène. "If you're ready, of course. We'd never push you to have a child when you aren't ready, my love."
"I'm ready. My soul is around 24 years old, but having Maya around this past week made me realize just how much I want a big family and children to love. Maya is absolutely my baby now, but I would also like to see mini Mikaelson's running around with Maya. Are you guys ready? Babies are messy and sticky and smelly," she chuckled. "But they're also so adorable and lovable."
The men's hearts swelled with excitement, the reality finally beginning to sink in for them.
"We're more than ready, my dear," Elijah smiled at her fondly. How badly they each wanted to thank her in their own ways, many that should be kept behind closed doors.
"Am I allowed to go first, as my prize for winning the 'showdown' some time ago?"
Sol hummed, debating while the boys bickered about the unfairness of that. She did say the prize could be anything, but this was a bit too much, from her perspective. It'd be better to leave the order entirely up to chance. This way, there would be less refuting and battling over the order.
Her phone buzzed in her pocket, a call coming in. She quickly answered it. "Hello?"
"Hi, is this Maya Griffith's parent?" The secretary asked since the girls contact information had only been recently changed.
"Yes, did something happen?" The woman's eyes flickered up to her soulmates who were all looking concerned about Maya's wellbeing.
"Well, Maya has gotten into a fight during recess. We would appreciate it if you could stop by to talk about the situation. We've also called in the other girl's parents."
"Of course, I'll be right there." She hung up the phone, standing from her seat. "Kol, let's save your prize, alright? It's probably best to randomly decide to order for this, hm? To minimize the fights." She'd wanted to quickly find a nice pausing point for their conversation before she left.
"If you thinks that's best." Kol nodded.
With that, Sol was rushing to the door to grab her purse and keys. Shoving her feet into a pair of shoes, she yanked open the door. She realized the boys were standing behind her, waiting to follow her out.
"Are we all going?" She raised a brow, unsure if it was necessary for the lot of them to go to the meeting.
"Of course, she's our child." Finn nodded, sliding on his own shoes. "I'm sure she'd like it if we're all there for her."
"Yes, it'd be troublesome if the other children think it's alright to bully our child." Niklaus asserted, Kol quickening voicing his agreement.
"We're not going to bully the children, brother." Elijah narrowed his eyes at his more mischievous brothers. "We're going to support Maya, no matter what has occurred."
Her heart warmed, seeing them care for Maya so much.
"Let's get going then, shall we?"
