Drogo drags me down the hall. I barely have time to grab a sweater.
Once I'm at the bottom of the stairs, I see Nicolae getting ready to go out.
Nicolae: "Nora! Ready for a little midnight stroll?"
Nora: "Drogo asked me to come along."
Nicolae: "I see."
He doesn't seem to mind. I really thought he would! That's a relief!
Drogo whispers in my ear:
Drogo: "We'll have such a great time..."
I smile at him. As I step outside I look up at the sky: it's full moon tonight.
I lean against the railing and enjoy the feel of the evening breeze blowing in my hair. I'm going out on the prowl with vampires... actual, real-life vampires.
Is this really happening? Who goes out hunting with vampires...? Nobody, right? This is wild!
I'm not too keen on the idea of going hunting in the middle of the night, but it's my chance to bond with these guys some more.
Drogo walks over to his brother and gives him a gentle pat on the back.
Drogo: "What's up? All set?"
Nicolae: "Why? Do you still think you're going to win this thing?"
Drogo: "Are you kidding me? I'm going to kick your ass! You've been locked away in the house too long! You'll be rusty!"
Nicolae shakes his head and laughs. I'm not used to seeing Drogo in such a good mood.
He's kidding around with his brothers... and whispering sweet nothings in my ear now? It seems like the prospect of hunting has turned him into a new man!
For a brief moment, I feel overwhelmed with doubt. Do I really belong here?
Nora: "What exactly is this hunting thing all about?"
Drogo: "It's all about hunters and... prey!"
Nora: "Yeah...I'm not sure I feel too great about this."
He comes so close to me, I feel his breath on my face. I glance over to Nicolae.
He's too wrapped up in a conversation with Peter and isn't paying us any attention at all. Phew!
Nora: "Don't do that. We'll get caught!"
Drogo: "No, we won't. He's a thousand miles away. He couldn't care less what we do right now."
Nora: "I'm not so sure about that. Step away, please..."
He moves away and bursts out laughing.
Drogo: "Nicolae! I think Nora is worried about what's gonna happen tonight!"
Nicolae comes over to us and gives me a reassuring smile.
Nicolae: "We're going hunting for food."
I hope there are no humans involved... They did tell me they didn't kill humans, didn't they?
