|Third Person's POV|
The moment sun set, five members of the Young Justice lurked out of the cave. Their transport was not an ordinary vehicle but a giant ship, waiting in the sea for them.
For Dawn, it was the stupidest thing but everyone in the team agreed that it was the safest way to get to the enemy's lair. Kyle said their lair was in a cave too and it was on an island not too far from here which meant they had to travel by sea. To point out, Dawn was utterly against of the idea.
She just couldn't stand sitting on a ship in a sea. It was unbearable. But she didn't have other choice because they turned down their suggestion to run them there. Kyle said their defense system would notice her immediately since it was made to detect anyone arriving from the Young Justice.
So, they chose a ship and Lacey would use one of her spells to shield the ship and make it invisible. The system wouldn't notice it and therefore it couldn't detect her powers because she wasn't part of Young Justice originally.
Unless Anti-Justice modified their system. So basically they were going trying the fate.
Dawn didn't like it, not even a bit.
She had no idea why she couldn't tolerate water but she just couldn't stand being near it. It made it for her to breath. Those few moments with Kyle were an exception. Somehow, she got distracted and forgot she was around water.
But here she was, on board, looking across the water while Andre steered the ship and Dawn had no idea where he learned that.
"Hey," She heard a familiar voice say. Chills went through her body whenever he spoke and this time was no exception. "How are you?"
"I'm fine," She answered without looking at him.
"You know you'll be worse if you'll keep staring at the water." Kyle told her.
"I'm sure I can survive that. Besides, I can always run back."
He shook his head. "You won't do that. Why don't you come with me? Tess and I are playing cards."
Dawn shrugged. "Sure," She looked across the board. Next to Andre, Lacey covered the ship with spells. She wasn't standing on the floor but in the air, her blue eyes were glowing and her dark hair was blowing in the wind. It reminded Dawn of Lena Luthor, her mother. Dawn hasn't seen Lena many times but enough to notice resemblance between her and her daughter.
"She's really strong, isn't she?" Kyle questioned, catching her looking at Lacey.
"Yeah," She mumbled. She had a strange feeling in the chest because of the way Kyle talked about their friend. Which was stupid. She was being stupid. "Let's go play those cards." She needed to distract herself badly.
"Wait," Kyle said, stopping her on her tracks. "I need to tell you something before we arrived in my previous lair."
Dawn walked back to the deck, standing next to him and waiting for him to speak.
"Please, whatever you see there, don't hate me." He said, his tone real and genuine. "I'm not one of them anymore. I don't think I truly ever was."
Dawn smiled and touched his cheek with her hand as the wind blew both of their hair under the night sky. "I know. You're one of the good guys know."
She felt how he relaxed the moment she finished that sentence. "Thank you," He smiled and it reached his forest green eyes. How beautiful he was in that moment. He grabbed her hand and gave it a light squeeze. Then his face turned into a familiar smirk. "Come on, or Tess will have my head on one of her arrows." He didn't let go of her hand as they walked in the cabin.
