Red hummed as the smell of eggs wafted through the air just outside the shrine that Link has found the previous day, the two eggs sizzling on the plate as they cooked. He lifted his head as he heard Link come out of the shrine, wiping sweat off his brow, his helmet in his left hand.

Red smiled at him, he seemed to have a lot more energy today, maybe a bit more mentally healthy as well. Link's sky blue eyes met Red's turquoise, a small smile forming on his face as he walked towards him. He grinned as he noticed the eggs, "For me?"

Red nodded, "I ate a couple while you were in there, just started on these." he explained before holding the plate up, "They're already ready for you too!"

Link blinked before carefully taking the plate in his hand, sitting beside his boyfriend, he shovelled the eggs into his mouth before he could even think about it for a second. He froze as he realised all of it was gone before he could even properly take in the flavour, immediate regret filling his expression. Though he was faced with surprise as Red started to laugh, "Do you really like my cooking that much? Or was that-" Red struggled to speak as he held his stomach, his laughter growing louder.

Link blushed "Well, uh..." he averted his eyes in embarrassment, scratching the back of his neck "I was just really hungry I guess."

Red calmed down, wiping tears out of his eyes with a grin. "I'm sorry for laughing, it was just... kind of... I don't know how to say it..." he paused.

"Endearing?"

"I guess? It was kind of cute too." Red admitted under his breath so Link could barely hear it. Link looked him in the eyes, smiling as he realised Red was fidgeting as he stopped himself from hiding his face. I don't deserve him... nor did I deserve those eggs... Link shallowed as that thoughts forced themselves into his head once again. He took Red into his arms, more so as to hide any sign of his mental state.

Red's arms wrapped around him in return, gently patting his back. Link let out a breath, nuzzling his face into Red's neck, he started to wonder if this would be one of the last times he would do this, if he would ever get to hold Red in his arms again. Maybe he would deserve such a thing, to die to a monster such as the one in Vah Rudania, not even knowing what would happen to Red. That made him hold him tighter as he screwed his eyes shut.

"Link, I'm going to get our water. Would you like some rocks?"

Link's eyes widened before he let out a laugh, "You turned my trick on me... why?" he slowly pulled away from Red who gave him a worried smile "You seemed down, that's why." he paused for second before giving him a serious look "But seriously, do you want rocks?"

Link gave him an amused smile "No, not really all that hungry." Red nodded as he stood up, "Alright, are you going to come with me to get our water?"

Link thought for a moment before gently nodding as he put his helm on. Red's stare lingered for a moment after he got up before they started to make their way back down to the inn, Link's awful, awful thoughts starting to play through his head again, repeated memories and thoughts of death and doom, reminders of just how undeserving he truly is, scoldings for making Red even slightly Red, constantly repeating. He barely noticed when Bludo suddenly shouted out to them, startling Red.

"Yunobo told me all about how you two helped him!" The Goron grinned as they walked up to him, "Here's reward or ya. Hylians like the two of you need this sorta thing, right?" he passed a couple bottles of fire elixir to the two of them, Link watched as Red blinked before giving Bludo a small, shaky and yet polite smile "You really, really, don't need to sir." but the old Goron only shook his head "Take them, we Goron don't need it and it's your reward."
