When Red opened his eyes, all he could see was void.

He let out a groan as he sat up, looking around, seeing no sign of Past Red.

"Red?"

"Red."

Red jumped as Past Red peered at him from above, leaning over his back. He quickly leapt up, blinking a few times as Past Red let out a small chuckle, "Sorry, didn't mean to scare you."

"It's... fine." Red stuttered. Then, the events came back to him, Link was... he let out a shaky breath, stay calm, stay calm, stay calm, stay calm. He repeated in his head, something that barely worked as a panic attack forced itself onto him. "Link... Link he's..." he sobbed out.

Past Red gently grabbed him by the shoulders, "Red, breath for me." Red looked into his eyes wheezing "Red, please, breath." he let out a horse breath, breathing in once again, then letting out yet another horse breath. "There you go, good job..."

Red wrapped his arms around Past Red, silently seeking comfort. His chest was so tight, so painful. He was grateful that his past incarnation was willing to help him calm down. "You saved him, doing all that you know." The spirit whispered, "You, however... you may have trouble breathing from time to time."

Past Red was silent for a moment before quickly adding "And by time to time... I mean a good chunk of the time... basically all the time."

Red was silent, he could care less about his own injuries at that moment. "How is Link doing?" he whispered, "do you know if he was hurt too badly?"

Past Red only shrugged, "Only know that you've saved him, sorry." Red nodded, finally pulling away. The spirit only stared at him with concern, "Red, are you okay?"

"No, I don't think so..." he admitted, "I... I could've prevented him getting hurt at all if I just..." Red looked down, his breathing was so loud and hoarse he couldn't even hear his own thoughts.

"Stay calm, you're going to make it worse. You couldn't of prevented this. No one could." Past Red stepped towards him, "Link was... that memory he had... it was really bad. In truth, it was my fault the events in the memory could've occurred." He explained, Red could see regret and an almost bitter sadness in his eyes. "Not fully my fault of course, but... my fault nonetheless. In the time since those events... I've learned that... it was all useless. I..."

Past Red stopped himself, sighing, "I'd tell you more but... now's not the time. You've got to wake up."

"What? Why? Explain to me now at least, how is it your fault?"

"A reckless decision, an extremely reckless decision. Now, wake up."

"But-"

"Red, you need to wake up." Past Red became more urgent, "You are going to be sick, wake up!"

Red's eyes shot open as he started to hurl, he leaned over his bed, finding a very convenient bucket next to it. Held his chest as he coughed up bile, tears freely flowing down his face as whatever he could've had in his stomach. He hung his head off the bed as he tried to catch his breath, his head spun, he could've sworn the pain in his chest was bad while he was speaking with Past Red, but no, it's far worse now he's awake.

A goron doctor rushed into the room, "You're awake! Sit up, brother, it'll help you breathe better." Red slowly nodded, forcing himself to sit up, lying on upright pillows to help himself. "Here, drink this, luckily the previous dose we gave you has been absorbed into your body properly."

Red wanted to vomit just looking at the elixir, forcing himself to take it in his shaky hands and taking careful sips, letting out a small gasp as his breathing started to worsen with his pain. He placed the elixir down as he started to wheeze, the coughing fit stopping after a minute or two.
