The smell of sulphur wafted through the air, making Red feel as if he was in a hot car in the middle of a heatwave, with bags full of rotten eggs in the back seat. Part of Red wanted to say that to help both him and Link to help at least make themselves feel a little better, but, Link wouldn't understand it.
Link made his way towards that pedestal, placing his sheikah slate down before a loud voice boomed, startling both of them, "Hey, little guy! Long time no see. I always knew you'd come back. Y'know I never stopped believing in you!" Red could hear the smile in Daruk's voice as he spoke, even with how loud his voice was, just by his voice alone he seemed so friendly. "You're here to take control of ol' Rudania back from Ganon, eh?"
The boys quickly nodded, Link more hastily so, as if he wanted this to be over with as soon as possible, not that Red could blame him. "You guys are going to need a map that shows the guts of this place," the boys instantly noticed the guidance stone from where they stood just outside of the room inside that beast "You can grab the info from that Guidance stone over there. Now get a move on!"
Link laced his hand with Red's as he stared into the beast, even in the heat of the very crater of Death Mountain he was shaking even more than he ever did in Vah Medoh. "Link... are you sure you're ready to do this?"
"I have to, Red... who knows what could happen if I don't."
He didn't give Red the chance to reply as he started leading him into the divine beast, within an instant of them entering the beast, they were shrouded in darkness. Link pulled Red to his side, Red yelping at the sheer speed in which he was pulled. All he could see within the beast was the glow of blue flames, the glow of malice and the glow of the sheikah technology.
"Stay close." Link muttered, slowly starting to go towards the two blue flames, Red walking along with him, still held against his side. Link seemed to look around as they made it next to them, letting out a small huff of annoyance "No torch..."
Red hummed, carefully pulling away from Link to try and find at least something to use as some kind of torch in the dark. He then looked up, wondering if there was something up above them on some platform, his eyes widening as he noticed something among the malice. "There's a chest!" he yelled to Link, pointing towards the barely visible object which only had a tiny bit of the corner sticking out.
"Good eye, darling." Link smiled as Red found himself getting flustered, stuttering and stumbling over his words as he quickly retreated back over to his side. Link took his bow and an arrow in hand, not hesitating as he shot the eye which stared into their souls. The chest fell to the ground with a loud thump, whatever was in it rattling inside. Link glanced at Red before making his way towards the chest, almost weary that something dangerous could've been inside of it.
"YES! A torch! Red you're a genius!" Link yelled out, holding the torch up as if it were one of the greatest treasures in the world. He ran over and passed it to Red, "Light it with those flames, I'll fight off anything if need be."
Red looked at the torch and then Link, "But, Link..."
"I'll be fine... I promise." Link muttered though he could see the lack of belief in Red's eyes. He carefully lifted the slightly shorter male's helm so he could rub his cheek, "How about this? Next time we need the torch, I'll be the one carrying it, okay?"
Red hesitated before nodding, "Alright... promise?"
"I promise."
"Pinkie promise?"
Link let out a small chuckle before offering his pinkie, Red wrapping his pinkie around his before pulling his helmet up so he could do his oh, so iconic pinkie kiss to seal the deal. "I wish I could see that blushing face right now..." he half-teased Red whose blush, even in the limited light, was evident. In truth, Link was hoping to be able to see Red's heavy blush once again, once they got through this divine beast, even if he didn't deserve to, even if he deserved his potential death for his failures as the so-called 'Chosen Hero of Hyrule'.
