The group put out the fire once they were done and headed back into the fray. Yu hid behind a tree when she saw a demon dragging the corpse of a person. It seemed different than the others, it didn't react to a tree falling or part of a roof cracking, it continued its way. She decided it was the one they needed to follow. The three found themselves near Japan's castle, it had been partially rebuilt by the demons and seemed to be their base of operations. Yu kneeled to the ground and went to the back. When she was young, she used to sneak into the castle and steal food for her family, hopefully, it hadn't been destroyed and they could use it.
She moved a few rocks and found the hole she dug; it was a bit tight to squeeze through since she had grown, but she got into the kitchen. She waited for the boys to make it in as well and crawled on the floor to avoid the sight of the demons. If there was any part of the job she missed, it was that. Sneaking around and hiding in the shadows, just like any good assassin. A clanging was heard from one of the hallways, stopping the three from going further as they heard demons rush toward it. Yu peaked around the corner and saw there was a rat in a metal car, it ran into walls and lead the demons away from the library.
That was a planned scheme, not something a mindless demon could come up with. The three went to the library and hid behind a pile of books to see what was going on. A woman with pink hair, a blue kimono, and a fox tail was throwing books into the pile while looking for a specific one.
"Come on! That stupid rat isn't going to distract them forever!" She threw another book, almost hitting Mitra if he didn't duck. "Found it! Amaterasu's book on the cosmos! Now to get out of here before Douma finds out I'm... who are you, people?"
"Who are you?" Yu stood up, "you're in the middle of a demon's lair and you decided to make it your mission to find a GODDAMN BOOK."
"Amaterasu's book on the cosmos is way more important than any of these demons... wait. An earth spirit, an Indian god, and some guy... are you Chaldea?"
"That's right, and we're here to take care of the demon problem," Yu held a book up and aimed it at a stack of poorly balanced books. "Now, you tell me who you are or else the pile goes down."
"WAIT, WAIT, WAIT!" The woman held up her hands. "My name is Tamamo no Mae! I'm a fragment of the goddess Amaterasu, please don't throw it!"
Yu put the book down, "Tamamo, huh? You sure do look like you're a troublemaker, besides that, I want to know something important."
"What is it?"
"You're a demon, shouldn't you be affected by the red fog?"
Tamamo stopped, it was like her brain just figured out there was red fog surrounding her. "Oh, I didn't even notice. I thought it was a storm wall, so I walked in..."
Yu approached Tamamo, their faces only inches apart. Tamamo was a demon alright, there was no mistaking the scent on her. She shuffled away from Yu and tried to escape but fell when a demon got in her way, her eye was on Yu and not in front of her. The demon raised its claw and Tamamo jumped back, she summoned mirrors with golden frames and used them to reflect any magic that was sent her way. However, that caused a bigger uproar. More demons found their way into the library, making what was supposed to be an easy trip in a broken-down castle into a fight for her life.
Yu stabbed one, its body collapsing as it was covered by black veins. She stabbed a few more before reaching her hand out, Tamamo was invited to join them only if the demon was willing to help them beat Douma's ass in. Tamamo took her hand and helped the boys by their side.
The last demon was burned to a crisp by Mitra's flame; he shook his hand to disperse the rest of it and peered down the hall. It was quiet. Yu picked up the rat Tamamo had sent out to distract the enemy, she wanted to use it again if they ran into another issue. The team continued to traverse the castle, not seeing a single demon even though they were sure they heard moans. Tamamo's ears perked up, there was a human on the other side of a door. She placed an ear against the golden door and listened; running and screaming, then the sound of flesh ripping. She kicked open the door and summoned her mirror, but she was too late, whoever was inside was dead.
