"There are so many things I regret, never telling anyone how I felt, never standing up for myself, but worst of all, never telling you how much you meant to me." The only sound he heard was the echoing of his friends as they tried to shout his name. "My world was so bland, so boring. Until I met you. I remember the day you were born, you were small, and you held my finger when I touched you. I knew you were special and would do anything to protect you. I babied you. That's why... this is for the best. Without me, you can finally grow and learn to love yourself."
He raised his hand, trying to touch his brother's face. His vision became blurry as his brother grabbed his hand. The tears that fell on him were warm, the last he could feel while the sound became deaf and the light faded. He wished he could say more, one word at least, but his voice was clogged by the blood filling his throat. Then it went black, he was standing in a room filled with mirrors and saw his father. He hesitated, but Arjuna moved closer to him and embraced him. He was forgiven, his sins were not just his, they belonged to those who chose to turn a blind eye to his suffering and pushed him to a point where they all were punished.
However, that didn't matter anymore. At the end of the road was a light, and Arjuna took his hand, they would be a family again, a real family who never left one another's side. He held his father's hand tightly, reverting to his form as a child, and walked along that path with the rest of the family joining them.
"Brother...." Abhimanyu noticed his brother had gone cold and began to turn to dust. "No, don't leave me. What am I going to do without you? Please! Come back to me!"
"Abhi," Carmen kneeled to comfort him. "I'm sorry."
"What happened?" Akko asked as he pushed the others aside.
"It was Galen," Helena explained. "He has a weapon that can ignore defenses... he went for Abhi, but Shru..."
"Come on, let's get out of here." Akko picked up Abhimanyu who buried his face in the doctor's jacket.
Chaldea left the tunnels and found that Laurine was petting Van Gogh's head as Kirschtaria was curled in a ball next to them.
"We're leaving," Akko walked past Kirschtaria. The mage stood up to follow until Akko struck his foot on the ground. "Don't you think you've done enough damage for one day?"
Van Gogh sipped some hot chocolate that Akko found in storage then set the cup on the ground in front of her and explained why she didn't want to enter the vault. The weapon inside was forged from an alien god and killed many old gods. Vulthoom, the one she was connected to, barely escaped it. She wish she had the courage they did when facing danger, all she could do was freeze in place. Laurine pet her head, there was no changing the past, the only option was to take down Psyche. Hopefully, the King of Light had some answers for them on how to do that.
Galen approached the throne with a scythe wrapped in golden cloth. He kneeled, raising the weapon above his head and presenting it to Psyche. She unraveled the scythe and held it to the light, she clicked a lever to open the blade and revealed a blue energy inside it that released purple and magenta flames. It was exactly how she imagined it, a weapon powerful enough to kill the old gods and perhaps send the King of Light to his knees. She swung it, feeling its power surge through her body as it accepted her as its master. She clapped her hands to signal Pomona to drag a training dummy to her.
With one swing, the dummy was slashed to pieces and turned to stone. She clapped again and Pomona brought a monster on a chain, she slashed it in half and it fell to the ground, leaving behind a mess that made Galatea think the ceiling was falling apart. She had a report about Hades charging his engines to leave and a third of the realm was going with him. Psyche returned to her throne and leaned her head on her hand, she had no patience for him; she had Zeus and Poseidon deal with him instead, they were his brothers and if he was going to listen to anyone, it was them.
