Carmen blew out the flame in her lantern as she approached Greece's capital. She relied on the shadows to get around the guards because of how dark it was. Part of her wished Yu was with them; the assassin's shadow travel would've been helpful at that time. She quietly skirted around the guards and made it into the castle, she pressed herself against the wall when she heard the council walk through the hall. It was Echo and Galatea. Echo tapped on a door before entering, she had some important information for the others and Carmen sneaked by to listen to what they were talking about.
The vault was its name, a chamber where an ancient artifact was hidden. Psyche was curious about the power to kill Zuriel, a rival king from a realm stronger than Greece. It wasn't going to be easy though, the king of light never left his kingdom, and with the Platted Knight threatening him, his security would be at its highest. From what Galatea heard, the artifact was strong enough to take out a portion of the barrier even at full power and leave a permanent hole. Unlike the barrier breakers that were being mass-produced in Caligo. Shifting was heard in the room and Carmen went to the hallway and hid under a desk to wait for the council to leave and turn off the lights.
That was her signal to keep going, if they were going to bed, then Psyche was likely asleep. She snuck past the gods who were on night watch and kept the cage holding the other members of Chaldea close to her. She made it to a door that was larger than the others and decorated in gemstones; it had to be the royal bedroom. She peeked inside to see it was empty, set the cage on the floor, and lifted the latch on it. However, she couldn't open it, Galatea slammed the door, hitting her away, and grabbed her, the King had a feeling that she'd be there, and she was going to face Psyche. The berserker skimmed the room, curious as to where the others of Chaldea were, and told Echo to keep an eye out for them.
Vines pushed the cage door as Van Gogh's familiars climbed out; a small flower fairy bounced around and made some noise that the council ignored. It opened the door for the others to exit and they got the memo to stay quiet. With Carmen missing, they crept around the castle to find her. Abhimanyu took a spoon from the dining table and pulled it back; he saw past the guards where the throne room was and noticed how the light was on. He asked Cleopatra to help, as an assassin, surely, she had the skill to take them out. She shrugged, it was a bit different than Yu's shadow jump, but had the same effect. Her snake slithered to the guards and waited on the ceiling, then when it was ready, it jumped and strangled them.
Psyche paced back and forth; she was stumped at what to do with Carmen. The mage wasn't talking and no number of threats worked on someone who Psyche knew nothing about. The king threw a small bush at Carmen who blocked it with a glass shield, that got Psyche's attention; perhaps the White Bishop was right.
"I want you to answer me," Psyche said, grabbing Carmen's collar. "Who are you?"
"I'm Carmen Annuska, the master of Chaldea." That wasn't what Psyche wanted to hear, she slapped the mage and demanded a real answer. "I don't know what you want from me!"
"You have glass magic! What kind of moron are you to not understand what that means?!"
"I told you! I'm not from the Specters! Whatever it means here doesn't apply to me."
Psyche threw her to the ground, "I'm not stupid! The White Bishop has been watching you since you left India! He knows what you are."
"Why are you listening to a Crypter? Aren't you enemies?" Those words made Psyche struggle, Carmen was right, she was taking reports from the man she was fighting.
"It doesn't matter, Chaldea is a threat to both the kings and the Crypters..."
"Your majesty," Galatea entered the room, holding a crystal in her hand. "He's calling."
