"Tell me, what is your business in Egypt?" Tutankhamun asked. "Is it to kill me?"

"That's kind of the plan," Carmen responded, to which he laughed.

"How amusing, I'll admit, I haven't heard something so brave and stupid in years. Go ahead, I won't do anything, so try your best to kill me."

That was the signal to attack, Yu struck him with a paralyzing dagger and Nero went to stab him with her anti-evil sword, but they did nothing to him. Helena and Mitra instead used their magic to see if he was only immune to physical damage, yet found they were ineffective as well. He saw the looks on their faces and knew they weren't going to keep trying. Though, he commended them for their efforts, as a reward, they were allowed to stay in Egypt and maybe come up with a plan that would work. He ordered Cleopatra to take them back to the inn and then return to him, he had some more work for her since she was falling behind the other council members after leaving for India. Which was her idea.

Chaldea sat at the stone table to discuss what they saw. An invincible man who didn't even flinch at the idea they were trying to kill him, possibly because he knew they couldn't. Even Nero's anti-evil sword was a plaything to him. Akko and Laurine entered the dining room to give them support, and the two heard about their failure to scratch Tutankhamun. Maybe it was better if they gathered some information before trying again, they knew little to nothing about the king so maybe it was deserved that they failed.

The townsfolk were happily walking around as they worked. When asked, they said they found the king scary but respectable. His conquests around the world made way for Egypt's prosperity. They would've died if he didn't take the throne. As for why they feared him, he was granted the powers of the gods who left him in charge of Egypt, one wrong word meant being turned into a mummy and being placed in one of the farmlands to work the rest of their lives with the outsiders. Then there was the tension between him and the council, some of the pharaohs were against his rise to king and it was rumored they were planning another civil war. If that happened, Egypt was doomed.

Carmen was most interested in the outsiders, people who were taken from their land to serve Egypt and were treated like slaves. She and Yu went to the farm while the others stayed in the capital to continue gathering information. The sights weren't pretty, people were exhausted and barely able to handle the pressure of their work. Mummies guarded them and whipped them if they stopped working or complained. And the polluted air was trapped within a barrier to keep the people from leaving. A mummy threw a child on the ground and was about to whip him until Carmen got in the way, she was hit on her back, her wounds bleeding from the constant impact.

The mummy stopped when a bell rang and went back to its position. The boy thanked her and apologized for her injuries, offering to take her to his home to patch her up. He gave her some bandages and Yu wrapped them around her, pulling them to tighten them and making a quick tie that kept them in place. The girls then sat down to listen to the boy, he was from Spain and used to live a peaceful life with his mother. Everything changed when Egypt arrived during a festival, King Liuva fought King Tutankhamun and lost, disappearing in the sands as the rest of Spain fell, its people enslaved or turned into mummies to serve the council as mindless monsters.

There were plenty of others who had the same fate, they lost their kings and were forced into slavery by King Tutankhamun's orders. He started crying, he didn't want to live the rest of his life as a tool for the king and an unforgiving council. He was afraid of the slightest wrong move meaning his death or becoming a monster. Yu sharpened her dagger; she wasn't going to stand by the evil Tutankhamun was causing. And though the boy wanted her to stop, she went anyway. Carmen followed her, telling her that trying to fight on the farm was dangerous, if they pissed off Tutankhamun, they would put their friends in danger.
