Being Parents Sucks

***6 MONTHS LATER***

I was sitting at my desk at home doing some work for the recruitment office. Since Lloyd and I had our conversation and then angry sex about me not being home I worked it out to work from home and be in and out of the office all day. I also worked with not traveling unless it was needed.

I was looking over the new recruitment files when I opened one up and saw the name and picture.

"Oh fuck no!" I yelled, grabbed the file. As I walked out of the office I ran into Preston and DJ.

"Mom?" DJ asked and I stopped to look at them.

"Yeah?" I asked. They seemed nervous. "What boys? I'm working?" I asked.

"We were wondering if we could use the credit card and buy a video game we have been wanting. It's $50." Preston said and I groaned. We had put our card info in their game system, but we had to give them permission to buy anything and we had to know what game it was to do research on the game.

"Go ask your dad." I said and they groaned.

"He said he's busy and to ask you." DJ said.

"Okay listen. Once I finish this case, I need to go question, I will come up and check out the game okay?" I asked and they smiled, both hugged me and ran back upstairs. I went up to her room and flew open the door not caring to knock. Claire was sitting on her bed studying.

"What?" She asked and I threw the file on the bed. She sighed when she opened it. "Okay let me explain..." Claire said.

"Explain?! Explain what Claire?! I don't want you to do it!" I yelled and she sighed.

"Jovi please listen..."

"What?" I asked crossing my arms. She then sighed and I knew she had nothing to say. "Claire, the file said you sought us out! You knew I was in recruitment! You knew I would have to see this!" I said.

"I thought maybe your partner would see it first." Claire mumbled.

"He still would have brought it to me Claire! What were you thinking?!" I yelled.

"I was thinking I wanted to do what you did! I have grown up in the life, I have grown up all around it! You were recruited by Uncle Donald and Davis! You were brought in, why can't I be? And lets not even mention Lloyd." Claire said and I groaned.

"Mentioning all of that does nothing for you! You think I wanted to be recruited?! I didn't have a choice. I come in with the name Fitzroy, I couldn't get out!"

"And I have the same last name! You think I have it any easier?!" Claire yelled back at me.

"God Claire! I told everyone in the recruitment you were off limits and now come to find out you sought us out! I can't believe you! If something were to happen to you..."

"Like it did to you! You were shot...by your husband! I was kidnapped...by your husband! Preston was kidnapped because of you and your husband! I love you and Lloyd and you guys are amazing! I just want to do the same, I want to carry on the Fitzroy legacy! The Fitzroy name!" Claire said and I groaned. I just started pacing in her room pinching the bridge of my nose.

"What's going on?" Lloyd asked coming in and leaning on the doorframe of Claire's room. I looked at Claire.

"Show him." I said and she sighed and held up the file. Lloyd walked in and took the file from her.

"Claire..." Lloyd said.

"Listen, I know it's a shock and I know it wasn't what you wanted for me but this is what I want. I will go through the training, with no extra help from you and if I don't pass then I don't pass! I just want a chance..." Claire said and Lloyd looked at me. I shook my head and just walked out of the room.

"I'll talk to her." Lloyd said to Claire as he followed me. I walked through the house and out the back door. I needed some fresh air.

"Hey...talk to me." Lloyd said coming up behind me and placing hands on my hips.

"I don't want her in this Lloyd. It's not safe, I think you and I have proven that time and time again. I don't want her in danger." I said and turned to look at Lloyd.

"Jo, she is being trained by some of the best trainers the CIA had to offer. She said it herself she doesn't pass she doesn't pass. She just wants a chance. Watching you and watching your dad and even Davis while she was growing up, this is all she knows." Lloyd said and I placed my forehead on his chest and wrapped my arms around his midsection and he held on to me.

"I have to let her do this don't I?" I asked as my head was on his chest. Lloyd sighed but gave a small chuckle.

"I think you do pumpkin. I mean she is an adult, she can do whatever she wants." Lloyd said and I took a deep breath.

"I'm going to go talk to her." I said lifting my head up to look at Lloyd.

"Give me a kiss first." Lloyd said and I giggled as he leaned down and gave me a passionate kiss. I moaned in the kiss and he pulled me closer to him and I broke the kiss apart.

"I need to go talk to Claire, don't distract me." I said. "You also need to go check out the game the boys want to buy. I can't go right now Lloyd." I said and he nodded.

"Alright and then tonight, we get alone time in our room..." Lloyd whispered in my ear and I nodded.

"You know it." I said giving him a quick kiss and then I went back inside to Claire's room. I just stood in the doorway for a minute and for a split second I saw the little kid who showed up at my father's door when her parents were killed and vowed to always watch out for her. Claire looked at me and I sighed walking into her room and sitting on her bed.

"You know this won't be easy?" I asked and she nodded.

"I know."

"And you know going in with the name Fitzroy, everyone will be watching you." I said.

"I do. I'm ready for it Jo." Claire said and I sighed.

"Fine, I want Lloyd to help you with teaching you how to shoot though." I said and she smiled with a nod.

"Why not you?" Claire asked and I sighed looking down at my lap.

"Lloyd is better that me but if you ever tell him I told you that I will shoot you myself." I said.

"But you might miss so I feel safe." Claire said and I looked at her shock and threw a pillow at her while we laughed.

"Also, your studies can not lack! I want you to still graduate." I said and she nodded.

"I promise." Claire said and I sighed and took her file.

"I'll pass this through." I said and she smiled and hugged me.

"I love you Jo."

"I love you too kid." I said and left the room. As I walked out of the room, I ran into Lloyd yelling up the steps.

"I said no!" Lloyd said and I looked at him. I heard the boys grumbling.

"Being parents sucks." Lloyd said.

"Tell me about it." I said and we laughed and headed downstairs.
