"hey, space-cadet!"the licensing exam was simple enough, it was essentially one big game of capture the flag but the "flag" was a hostage civilian. it was considered the "preliminaries" and the losing team were failed and escorted off the field in order to prepare the second exercise. midnight told you the second half is usually similar everytime, but before she could tell you more received a quick pinch to her arm from shota who said something along the lines of you're going to give her an unfair advantage. in the end, you were tasked with setting up a make-shift hospital for civilians in a disaster and were graded based on how you handled the victims before bringing them to be treated. that exercise was more of a breeze than capture the flag, because you already had experience in hostage rescue. there were no rules to saving civilians back in your world and you could treat them like dirt so long as you weren't the direct cause of their death, but you were an empathetic person to begin with and even back home treated everyone with a base level of respect. everyone is equal in accidents, whether they're healthy, rich, or high status. you save who you can find, be it a politician or a homeless person. that was something beautiful in your eyes.
still, you mumbled under your breath some curses to shota as you held an ice pack on your head. someone accidentally whirled their quirk into slamming a massive piece of debris into your head and you were feeling quite petty about it. really, you had an unfair advantage regardless of knowing what the test would be since you already had experience; so what was that old man on about? maybe if you hadn't been lost in thought about his comment in the car, you wouldn't have stood there like an idiot while a girl threw a rock at you.
you had already found your name on the list of people who passed, displayed on a large monitor in-front of all the teens waiting for their test results. you were just waiting for them to pass out the papers with the exact scores. "hey, space-cadet!" someone shouted but you assumed it wasn't directed to you, no one here really knew who you were so why would they be calling you?
that was until a tiny rock hit your hand, the one holding the ice pack to your head. you glared in the direction it came from with a pout to find a girl with blue hair waving you down. you started to approach but that's when you noticed it was the girl who hit you with the debris earlier. you jogged to get their quicker and greeted her and her friends with a friendly wave. "ayoo, what's up? need something?" she shook her head. "no, silly! and aren't you mad? i kinda nearly concussed you." you shook your head. "it's no biggie, i shouldn't have been standing there lookin' lost."
she beamed your way and elbowed her friend who seemed to curl in on himself at the idea of any social concepts. "told you she'd be cool about it!" you smiled and rubbed your neck bashfully. even if it was nothing bad, it was awkward when someone admits to your face that they were talking behind your back. this girl was blunt. "aha, yeah. anyway, what's up?" she grabbed your hand, enthusiastically shaking it. "i just wanted to know what your score ended up being, so i figured you could wait with us! also, most of us showed up in uniform and i could've sworn i saw you in that suit since the seminar. what school are you from?" you shook your head dismissively. "it's actually kind of a long story, i'm a transfer student so i'm not fully enrolled into the school yet but after this term ends i'll be a student at U.A." she gasped excitedly, her hands animatedly slapping over her mouth. "wow, that's so awesome!! we're from U.A. too. we'll be third years after the term ends." you grinned, her excitement was contagious. still, you bowed. "forgive my improperness then, upperclassmen." the boy beside her with the black hair grew unscrupulously nervous and smacked his hands over his face in embarrassment. the girl simply smacked your shoulder and forced you to stand.
