another day, another dollar. if a dollar was aimlessly wandering around at night looking for any possible signs of devil activity. since last nights devil incident, yourself and aizawa were asked to split up and patrol the entire city for any possible devils. they were considered high priority targets due to their malignant nature and boundless hostility. unlike villains, who would likely spur into action at a planned, precedented moment unless they were amateur. devils were simply bloodthirsty, dangerous creatures. despite your constant assurance that the devils wouldn't be interested in the civilians, since they were all chatting you up about the big lump in your chest. they still insisted you take separate patrol routes to keep an eye out for any.
they were totally using you as bait. the goal was to hook, line, and sink any of the devils in the area biding their time till they could catch you off guard. this led to a similar, more lonely routine that you followed in your own world. after the sunset, you would walk around and pretend to live your life like any mischievous 15 year old girl might. only this time, you were alone and also not actually allowed to do anything indoors. so you had to meander around in the cold, humid weather, doing absolutely nothing. you weren't even allowed to engage with villains if you discovered any, instead you were supposed to report them and their location to aizawa. even if you're witnessing a murder in progress.
that was bullshit, though. so you weren't listening to that rule. yeah, you'll let that old lady get robbed but you draw the line at murder. like a good saint would.
you could tell from the smell of the air that rain was coming, so you saved sora the trouble of wandering around until she hit the wall hard enough to dissipate. you were utterly alone then, and it became a bit apparent to you that sora was actually your only real friend. you scoffed, laughing at yourself with pity. "really, what does it say about a person who's only ever been friends with devils?" you eyed the street lamps as you walked the sidewalk. your gaze shifted to the sky. "no devils are gonna show up tonight. devils don't like rain." as if on call, a drop fell from the sky right into your eye. you flinched and turned your head forward quickly, gently rubbing your eye while grumbling to yourself.
if it starts to rain, you should head home. no point in staying out when you can barely see. especially without sora.
you smiled, at least now you could play video games instead of doing this boring routine. maybe if kaminari was awake, you'd invite him too. he wanted to play minecraft or something anyway. there was league too, which you hadn't tried yet. you kicked a rock down the side walk as you walked in the direction you assumed was home. the rain was starting to pick up now, to the point where it was pelting your back and hair. your phone started buzzing and you created a small shield above your ear out of black matter so you could hold the phone up without consequence.

"hey, kid. you're heading home, right? it's really coming down.." you nodded even though he couldn't see. "yeah, i'm walking there right now." you stopped at the crosswalk, waiting for the hand to turn green despite the pouring rain leaving no cars on the road. "that's good, just wanted to make sure. call me so i know you made it home safe." you smiled, laughing softly. "okay, i will." you noticed across the street, miss nemuri waving you down with hizashi beside her. they beckoned you over and you eyed the crosswalk sign again. watching as it turned green and you started walking, giving them a curt wave. "i see miss nemuri and mic across the street." aizawa hummed. "oh yeah, there was a staff hangout tonight that i wasn't able to attend. they're probably just getting done." you hummed in understanding and suddenly they called your name in concern.
