❞⁀➷♡'ˎ˗ "are you saying they've already acted?"
hawks couldn't help it, he was trained for this job but treating people like this had long since violated his contract. from the woman in the room, miss shimomura, to the executives smiling down at the girl strapped to the bed, right down to the girl herself. none of this was right, and he had to play his cards right to figure out how he intended to go about this.
as strongly as he felt about the situation, outright telling someone wasn't an option. no matter how deep his resentment for this branch of the hero commission was, he couldn't afford to lose his job and go on the run. with what he knows, you can't quit this line of work. you work the rest of your life, or you die. it's as simple as that.
i guess that didn't apply to lady nagant, but that's how she scored herself a nice cozy prison cell in tartarus. which was again, not an option on keigo's plate. he ruled out most options, actually. there would be no way to rescue her, tell anyone about her, hell he could barely even learn anything about her in the files. things were kept under surprisingly heavy stakes. the only thing he could learn were simple things like her blood type, legal guardian, and a few other pieces of information about her so called "demi-human" condition. that folder had sickened him, though. so he avoided reading too much of it.
in the midst of his mindful droning, he crashed into someone. she hit the floor as he regained his balance with his wings.
"i'm sorry about that, here." he reached his arm to help her up, but as she looked up he quickly recognized her. "oh, miss midnight! hello." he greeted curtly and she smiled weakly, taking his hand to stand up. she dusted herself off, he noticed she was in hero uniform. when he checked the nearby street post, he realized he had long since wandered from his patrol post. he found himself in musutafu. "heya, hawks! does something bring you here? not the first place i'd expect to run into you." he shook his head, eyeing behind him as he shook his shoulders slightly to relax his wings. "no, at least not intentionally. sorry for running into you, by the way. was a bit lost in thought." she shook her head and smiled. "no, that was all me. to be honest, i'm a bit distracted too." he tilted his head. "is something wrong?"
she shook her head no "it isn't a huge deal, i've just been calling this young girl for a few days and she hasn't replied. kiyomi hasn't replied either and i think she blocked me?" hawks felt his eyes grow to the size of saucers. what kind of luck could he possibly have? "kiyomi ren?" her eyes widened too, looking at him with a raised brow. "yes, do you know her?" he made a face and tucked his hands in his pockets. "no, i don't. just saw her name in a commission file the other day." hawks was wired, he always has been. there was nothing outright he could say to pass on the message. "maybe you should visit her, could be a number change." she smiled.
"that's a good idea!" she turned to leave suddenly and hawks grabbed her shoulder. she gave him an inquisitive look as his throat grew dry and he looked around nervously. without another word, he passed her a small folded paper with a finger over his lips. with that, he took to the skies to return to his patrol post.
