the next obstacle is literally a massive sea of gaps in stone. you can only frown. again, you hadn't wanted to rely too heavily on sora during the competition. todoroki slides past you, using ice to push himself down the ropes. he's just balancing on one leg that easily? you decided it wasn't worth testing if you could do the same. "fine..." you mumble, and sora appears once more. her wings spread and she hooks her legs around your shoulders before taking off so fast you nearly fall. seems like even sora's getting a bit competitive, because she passes todoroki with haste. she throws you down at the end of the obstacle and you sigh as you run to the next area.
a beeping sound from beneath your feet catches your attention, and you step out of the way as pink smoke rises up from a mine exploding beneath your feet. your careless dodge sends you stepping into another, and then another. you're a bit embarrassed when todoroki catches up and you're sitting on sora's shoulders like a frightened animal that climbed a tree to escape a bear.
"this is too dangerous!" you mumble, and sora steps forward, unable to fly from where you're sitting. she manages to step on another mine. somehow, todoroki has passed you. the next person to do so is bakugo, who comes flying past like a comet with explosions leaving a trail of smoke in his wake.
you pout, staring at them. they had better abilities for this, and sora can't really tell where the mines are unless you tell her. also, using her to fly over it would be too boring.
you huff as you begin to walk carefully through the mindfield, a little discouraged but pushing on regardless. bakugo and todoroki seem to be fighting in the lead, it makes it a little hard to get close to them when you're dodging ice and soot from bakugos blasts. suddenly, a massive explosion from behind you catches your attention. when you look up, midoriya is even more comet-like than bakugo was. a cloud of pink smoke trailing behind him as sora stands behind you to prevent the blast from bothering you.
"man, that was really smart!" you mumble, speeding up as you watch midoriya overtake both bakugo and todoroki.

you don't wanna be left behind, and todoroki conveniently begins trailing a path with ice toward the final hurtle in order to catch up with midoriya. you split your wrist, sending a chain into the very edge of his ice path. with a bit of focus, you change the matter from solid to rubbery. "sora!" she picks you up, pulling you back and releasing you like a slingshot. to keep yourself from falling when you reach the ice without losing any momentum, you reinforce your shoes with matter and keep your arms extending to keep your balance. it looks a bit silly, but you're able to essentially skate forward on todoroki's ice path with this method.
midoriya suddenly slams the metal pallet he had used as a surfboard down, and it causes a massive explosion. you form spikes at the bottom of your shoes once more, to keep yourself planted and avoid being pushed back by the mines. you're neck and neck with bakugo and todoroki now, but you'd like to pull ahead of at least one of them. "sorry!" you mumble, shooting a chain into both of their shoulders and using it to slingshot you once more. you skid to your feet ahead of them and you can hear bakugo from behind you ready to blow a fuse. todoroki's ice is suddenly gripping your leg, and he passes you in the time it takes to pull it free. "dickhead!" you mumble, doing your best to catch up.
