"now, i'll tell them the truth because it's convenient for me to do so."

you did actually think that recovery girl's idea was a smart one. who better to discuss this with than aizawa? he essentially knows all that there is to know about your situation aside from unsavory or unnecessary details. so, you were all geared up and ready to have a sit down conversation about your next course of action when you got home.

unfortunately, the apartment was empty. a little note that he scrawled out is pasted on the fridge with a magnet.

be back tomorrow morning, emergency hero stuff.

great.

so, your next best bet... rakurai!

what? she was smart... sometimes.

"i think you should just tell them!" she says, sitting crisscrossed on your bed while watching you pace back and forth. "it's not that simple, rai!" you retort, lips pulled into a frown. "i think it is." yumi chimes in from where she sits beside rakurai, and you can only huff. "do you guys even realize how strange and crazy that sounds? 'oh, yeah. sorry you guys keep seeing the silhouette of my friend, she lives inside my head like a split personality and is actually manifesting a physical form because i'm dying. oh! and, i'm from the 1990's in another world.'"

yumi shrugs. "makes sense to me." rakurai nods in agreement. "me too!" you groan, dragging your hands down your cheeks. "look, the truth is weird, yeah. but it's going to be a load off your back to just be honest about it. besides, your original reason for concealing the truth of your situation was to avoid questions and to be certain villains wouldn't discover your origins. both of those things are out the window now because for one, everyone's asking questions now regardless. two, villains and devils are already showing that they're willing to work together. crudely, but it's still the start of a larger issue. both of your main reasons for hiding this are out the window now, you'll only be making more trouble for yourself by continuing to lie." rakurai says, and yumi nods in agreement.

you sigh softly, stopping in your tracks mid pace for a moment. "i know that, i'm just... more worried about hurting their feelings. for most of the class it makes sense, i hardly know any of their names. but like..." you trail off, gathering your words.

"todoroki and yaomomo have been nothing but kind to me since the moment i met the both of them. i owe them the truth and i couldn't even give them that. now, i'll tell them the truth because it's convenient for me to do so. isn't that... fucked up?" you ask, and rakurai frowns. she stands up and grabs your shoulders, shaking you a bit.

"why are you sweating the small stuff? you're acting like you lied about something that affects them, this is your life here! it's not information they were privy to from the start, and there's nothing wrong with being unwilling to share something with someone because you don't know them well! things are different now. so, don't be so scared. just man up and tell them the truth." rakurai encourages, and yumi cuts in with her own two cents.
