"are you stupid?"it's getting a little hard to hide it now.
yumi's presence becomes more evident with each passing day, the deadline for your next death crawling and creeping closer. but in the meantime, you must wait. this only gives this power time to fester, and with it so does she.
people are beginning to notice.
the shadow that stirs behind you, the silhouette of a person no one can see who's tugging the strings of aizawa's sleeping bags during his naps, the cold gust of wind that passes between the desks occasionally in class, even a select few are beginning to hear her voice every so often.
was there anyway to explain it that didn't sound insane? you don't think so, but it's getting to the point where keeping it a secret is near-pointless.
you've toyed around with the idea of introducing her as a facet of your quirk, but then why would you have hid her? it doesn't make enough sense. besides, if you did choose that option, you'd have to pretend this change wasn't a learning process to you as well. not to mentioning how much else is changing. you wonder if anyone's noticed the way your fingertips appear bruised, almost black.
todoroki was the first. it was in the subway before the internships when he first felt her presence, but the chaos of the hero killer drowned out his curiosity. he wasn't given the time to dwell on it. now, he notices her sometimes. glimpses of a figure sitting on your desk watching the teacher, arms propped on your head as she stands behind your chair, sometimes he'd see the silhouette of the girl simply standing near the podium where the teachers would stand.
there is really no rational explanation for it. his first thought and assumption is obviously, your quirk. which, wouldn't necessarily be wrong. his second assumption was sora, who's form he's seen shift before. however, there was much more to it than that. he only realized that when he asked you.
"what? haha..." you laugh nervously, rubbing the back of your neck as you avoid his gaze. "i don't know what you're talking about, todoroki." you know you're a bad liar. you're bad at most things involving human interactions, but deception is possibly your least exercised skill. he narrows his eyes at you, lips drawing into a line. he is briefly reminded of your embarrassment in admitting your origins, the reason for your lack of education of modern technology. it's through this, he decides to give you grace. perhaps, you were simply embarrassed. by what? he was completely unsure.
"you don't have to be nervous, y/n." he says, blinking at you. he's sitting across from you at the lunch table you tend to sit at when you're not in the mood to talk to anyone, but more recently you two have been sharing pleasant talks over your food.
your hands are tucked nervously in your lap now. how much else has he noticed? you wonder. you know you're only being more suspicious, making yourself seem less and less reliable through your behavior, but it's hard not to be nervous. the only explanation for what he's seen is revealing everything you've been hiding since the day you began attending this school. it wasn't something you needed to hide, but what good came from anyone knowing?
