Chapter 38♡

(Alex's P.O.V)

It was Saturday so I was off work today. Zack had been pretty quiet lately. He had his therapy session today. He was still quiet.. 'Morning Mom.' He hugged me. 'Morning. You have therapy today.' He went to go and make himself a drink. 'How do you feel about that?' He stayed silent. 'I'd rather not go.' My heart hurt for him. 'I don't have a problem.. oh, I forgot. My father chose alcohol over me and Tyler.' He then went back upstairs. He was really struggling. Mom then came downstairs. 'Hi sweetheart.' She could tell that I was concerned. 'Zack is shutting down.' Mom said that she could tell. "Is everything okay?" I sipped my tea. "No Mom.. not really. Could I tell you something?" Mom said yes. "Could we go outside please?" She said yes. Heading out there, we both sat on the chairs.. looking up at the morning sky.. sipping my tea, she reached for my hand.

"When I was with Chris, something happened. Mom looked at me.. "I.. how could he do that to you?" I told her more.. "He tried to keep me away from you. I missed you so much." She hugged me. "Well, the main thing is that you're here now. And you're safe." Mom asked me if I wanted to consider finding my own place again. "I'd love to. I wouldn't like to live too far away. I'd miss you." Mom said that she would miss me too . "You've been through so much and you deserve to be happy." I agreed. "I'm feeling better day by day.' Mom then took my hand. "I'm glad to hear that." Heading back inside, I went to have a quick shower. "Morning Mom." Tyler hugged me. Even though he was fourteen, he still liked a quick hug!🥰

"I'm gonna head out with my friends. Will that be okay?" I said that would be fine. As he got ready for school, I got in the shower. I heard Zack on the phone. "Yeah. We'll go out tonight. That's cool JJ. See you later." Hearing Zack, I stayed silent. 

"Zack.. morning.  He smiled a little. "I am fine." He looked up at me. "Well, that's good." Holding him, I asked him if he'd hurt himself again. "I haven't.." I smiled at him. "I'm proud of you. Did you still wanna go to see someone?' He said that he'd think about it.  "Okay. I'll be upstairs." As I sat on my bed, I got a text from Nina.

Hey. I was thinking of hosting a girls night at my house next week. Did you wanna come?💛

I always loved a girls night! We always had the best time. Replying, I saw a text from Will.

Were you free today by any chance?

Was I prepared?!

Leaving the text open, I went to go and make another drink. What would I say? I just had to chill out. I had therapy this evening. Maybe I could talk to Mel about it. As I was opening up more, it was scary. Just taking the time to relax, I replied to Nina.

I would love to come along! How is the job going?x

Closing my eyes for a minute, I enjoyed the peace. Life felt good at the moment.

She texted back..

The job is actually going really well thanks. I'm still settling in. X

I could hear Zack.. 'But Gran! I will not be that far.  Heading to his bedroom, I saw Mom. 'What's going on?!" Zack then exploded.. "Gran won't let me go out! I said that I'll only be five minutes!" Looking at Mom.. I rested my hand on Zack's shoulder. "Could you at least tell us where you're going?" He then budged me. I chased after him.. but he slammed the front door behind him.

"He needs to see someone Alex." I turned and looked at Mom. "He's on the fence about  it. What else should I do?" Mom suggested spending some one on one time with him. "I can take Tyler out." I hugged her. "Thankyou." She said that it was okay. Getting my shoes on, I got my phone and bag. Heading out, I searched everywhere for him.. it was still light.

Heading to the park, I saw him sat on the same bench. Getting out of the car, I thought about how to approach him. One of my baby boys was hurting really badly. Tyler had told me little bits..

"Mom. He's up all the time. He hardly sleeps. He's practically a zombie." I giggled at that. "He's hardly also told me a few things.." I was shocked by that..

"He's also.. urm." I looked at Tyler. "Ty.. what's he's doing?" Tyler shifted around.. I knew that he was nervous. 

Heading towards the bench, Zack looked at me. He was just quiet. "Is it okay if I just sit next to you Zack?" He nodded.. sitting in silence for a bit.. he looked up towards the sky. Clasping my hands together, I just took in the peace and quiet. He reached for my hand..

"Tyler told me what you've been doing.." He cried. "I can clearly see that you're struggling. Just let me help you." Zack hugged me. "I love you Mom." I said that I loved him too. "I promise that I'll arrange another appointment for today." Heading back home with him, he said that he was going up to have a shower.

As I got my stuff, I put my shoes on. Replying to Will's text, he said that he understood.

See you soon.

"See you later Mom." She waved bye.

I made my way to the coffee shop.. oh my god! He was standing outside. I suddenly felt hot.❤️🤣 texting the girls in the group chat.. they texted back..

Amanda:

Take deep breaths! Is he THAT HOT?!🤭😏

Nina:

You'll be fine. Just be yourself. You're already fabulous!!!xxx

Olivia:

Remember how amazing you are. He wants to meet up with you for a reason. Xxx

"Alex?" Hearing my name, I walked towards him as he sat down. "Hi Will." He said hi back.. "Hi." As we got drinks, we started to engage in some light conversation..

"So yeah, I have a great job and I'm really close with my family." Ahhh, that was refreshing to hear... "What are your family like?" He continued to talk. "Well, I have 2 younger sisters. Hannah and Rachel. Hannah is 26 and Rachel is 28." I smiled. "My mom is called Lisa and my Dad is called Colin. Both of them are retired. They still live in our family home." I smiled. "I love that."

He then asked a bit about myself. "Well, I'm an Assistant District Attorney if you couldn't already tell." I blushed.. "I have two sons. Zack and Tyler." He asked how old they were. Zack is 13 and Tyler is 14." I didn't really want to tell him any more.. "Cheese or chocolate?" His eyes lit up. I giggled. "Oooo.. I love chocolate!" He smiled. "Cars or bikes?" He smiled. "Bikes. I love a good bike ride. Especially in the sunshine." Time flew so fast.

"I prefer walking." He told me a bit more. 'I have two daughters.' I smiled. 'That's lovely.' Looking at the time, I realized that I had to go. 'Thankyou. I had a lovely time.' As I walked down the street, I kept blushing.. As I sat in the car, I saw a reminder text. It was for my therapy appointment. 

(Nina's P.O.V)

I was catching up with my son. I had taken him out for a milkshake. It was nice just spending time with him after work. 'Yeah Mom.. so that was cool. Biology was awesome! Jake and I then played soccer together.' Seeing him smile was my favorite thing in the world. 'That sounds really good darling.' He still seemed sad though. When I was at work the other day, Simon had texted me saying that Ax had avoided going to see the school counsellor the other day. I didn't know wether bringing it up would upset him more. As we sat in silence, he slurped his milkshake. 'Yo do make me giggle baby boy.' His phone then bleeped. 'Auntie Liv has just texted me asking if I wanted to spend some time with her.' I said that was nice. 

'She really loves you.' I saw him smile. 'I know.' I was going to plan my dress shop day soon. Me and Simon were going to have a date night in a few weeks. It had been ages since we'd had time together. 'I said Sunday was good.' When we finished at the cafe, we headed home. I just hugged our boy. 'I love you Mom.' I held him. 'I love you too Ax.' 

Authors note: Hey everyone. Sorry if I have taken so long to publish this chapter. I'm going through a family breavement at the moment and I also had really bad writer's block! Wedding planning chapters are on their way.... soon!
